Starship Troopers novel cover art. Artists (not in order) include Paul Lehr, Gordon C. Davies, Danny Flynn, Keith Scaife, Naoyuki Kato, Carl Lundgren and more.

Space helmet designs for Alien (1979). H.R. Giger, Moebius x 4, Ron Cobb x 2, the actual production helmets mostly based on Moebius’ design, the mysterious other helmet.

The many covers of Isaac Asimov’s Foundation. And this is only a drop in the ocean. Art: Chris Foss (1973), Tim White (1983), Michael Whelan (1986), Hubert de Lartigue (1992), David Kyle (1951), Richard Powers (1962), Ed Valigursky (1962), Roger Zimmerman (1963), Don Punchatz (1966), Fred Gambino

Chris Moore was a giant of book cover art. Perhaps a bit less well known than the other Chris (Foss), Moore’s covers dominated the sci-fi section of bookshops while I was growing up in the 70s and 80’s

Pages from Alien Movie Novel by Richard J Anobile (Futura Publications, 1979). Photo books were really popular in the late 1970s before the rise of home video. Glad I still have my copy.

Art by Philippe Bouchet (born 19 March 1956), better known as Manchu, a science-fiction illustrator with hundreds of book & magazine covers to his name. He also contibuted to French / Japanese animated series Once Upon a Time... Space and Ulysses 31.

Long before the internet and Audible we had spoken word records and tapes from Caedmon Records, a US based spoken word label founded in 1952 by college graduates Barbara Holdridge and Marianne Roney.

The Book of Alien by Paul Scanlon and Michael Gross (1979). When I spotted this on the new releases shelf in my local scifi & fantasy bookshop in 1979 I thought the heavens had opened and couldn’t have slammed down my hard earned newspaper delivery money any faster for a copy.

International poster for Roger Corman’s Alien rip-off (which is a lot of fun) Galaxy of Terror (1981). Art by Kevin Giger, Hans little brother. Seriously though, not sure who the artist is.
