Struggled to write ⅔ of a page. That might be all today...

How am I supposed to feel about word salad poems? Or poems that are just prose stories chopped into lines with no word play or artistry? Because I do not like them.

Alright, tonight's writing session netted me two pages and a scene I wasn't sure how to write. Even if I don't write any more today, that's a success.

So I guess I like Faulkner. In spite of the drawbacks of the prose I find myself thinking of his story "Soldier's Pay" while I'm not reading it.

What do you do when you don't know how to write a scene?

I read these old books with old racist stereotypes with incredulity. How am I supposed to pronounce "gwine?" Has an actual human being ever said that word? At this point I just translate the crap into regular English and read it in a normal voice.
