I had the pleasure of chatting with @32bjseiu.bsky.social member & US military veteran Carl Roesler. Immigrant justice is personal to Carl. We explore what drives him to take action in support of his union siblings ahead of 10/24 Early Voting Day. Watch this episode of Cafecito con Rocío!

Today, CA state workers are making history on the picket lines!✊From Sac to LA, @seiu1000.bsky.social members who keep CA running are demanding respect at the bargaining table & pay they can live on in the communities they serve. 2M SEIU members stand with you! ¡La lucha sigue! #unfairpracticestrike

We can and will make a difference in the midterms. For our families and for the country we all home. seiu.co/WorkersVote

But here's perhaps the most compelling stat: across the 13 states with a critical mass of early/mail votes cast so far, Hispanic turnout is outpacing 2024 levels, and not by a small amount. More Hispanic voters have voted than did at this point, despite '24 being a presidential.

Working people are leading the way for a better future and making history every day. Solidarity! ✊🏽

For the first time in our union’s history, SEIU Local 1000 will go on strike. Our one-day Unfair Practice Strike will take place on Wednesday, October 21. Now that a strike has been called, join us for a Strike School session TONIGHT: https://bit.ly/4rXqFiL

This #LatinoHeritageMonth, I’m reflecting on a lifetime of organizing alongside working people. I’m proud of what we’ve built together and inspired by everyone’s leadership. ¡Sí, se puede!

We should make it easier to keep families together & workers in their jobs. Forcing people who are following the rules to separate from their families and leave the country to obtain a green card will make the process more difficult and hurt families, communities, & our economy.

Guess who I ran into? @seiu775.org member leader Ana Gonzalez, who I just had a virtual cafecito with the other day. Ana is part of a delegation of SEIU members coming together to dream, demand, and disrupt! Check out what she’s up to because Ana has a message for YOU. 💜🥤

Like every worker, Wilber Rafael Garcés Pérez and immigrant workers across this country deserve to go to work without fear and return home safely. We need an immigration system that recognizes their humanity, protects working families, and provides a pathway to citizenship.

At 1199, we know that people’s lives, contributions, and dignity are never temporary. That’s why we oppose the Trump administration’s recent cancellation of TPS for Haitians and Syrians. In response, we’ve created an emergency fund to provide direct support to affected 1199ers and their families.

Our nation's history on repeat. Dehumanizing Black and brown working people who have built their lives, raised their families, and contributed to our communities for decades is awfully familiar.
