One of the primary responsibilities of the WI State Senate is to review the Governor’s appointments and either confirm or reject them. In the 2025-26 Session, the Republican majority abandoned that responsibility, refusing to hold a floor vote on any of the 414 executive appointments before them.

None of your problems are because your neighbor is an immigrant, Muslim, or Trans. Not one. The far-right wants you to focus on what separates us as individuals because their agenda is all about making the rich richer while the rest of us run as fast as we can just to stay in the same place.

The New York Times asked 37 of the top scholars studying K-12 education to rank 30 popular approaches to improving student achievement. The worst value and 3rd-least effective choice was private school vouchers.

The top 5 most effective approaches were: -Small group tutoring -Science of reading -Universal pre-K -Increase per-student funding -Increase teacher pay in high-poverty schools Wisconsin kids deserve a world-class public education. What we don't need is more privatization.

You can tell a lot about people by what they spend their money on. Here in Wisconsin, while our ranking in public education funding compared to other states has dropped, we continue to spend huge sums of money to lock people up.

The Trump Administration has begun sending armed federal agents to immigrants' homes to interrogate them about their voting history. This is an intimidation tactic designed to discourage naturalized citizens from voting.

Illegal voting by non-citizens has been proven time and again to be exceedingly rare. For example, Homeland Security recently claimed that they had found 16,000 noncitizens on voter rolls in Nevada, but were unable to provide evidence of even one illegally registered voter.

For every dollar's worth of corporate tax cuts, $.75 of that goes straight to the wealthiest 5% of foreign investors. Virtually every dollar of tax cuts for working people goes straight back into the economy. It's time to fix our rigged tax system!

Our democracy cannot function while corporations and the super-rich continue to spend ridiculous, ever-increasing sums of money to buy off politicians. Whether it takes expanding the Supreme Court, a Constitutional Amendment, or any other legal means, we MUST get big money out of our politics.

In-person absentee voting starts now! You never know what might happen on Election Day, so why not get your vote in early? Details on sites and times are available at the City of Milwaukee Election Commission website or your local municipal clerk.

WE Energies is seeking a 14% increase in residential electric rates over the next 2 years, on top of the already high rates we've been paying. You'll never believe this (OK you probably will), but 14% just happens to be the percentage of your electric bill that goes to company profits. 🤔

It’s officially World Series Week here in Milwaukee! That triceratops-appreciating little dude in the Big Bird t-shirt is me in 1982 - the last time our crew made it this far. Now it’s time to finish the job. Let’s bring it home, #Brewers!

At a time when housing costs are sky-high, AI Data Center construction is crowding out all other types of construction - significantly raising costs in the process. Over the past 2 years, data center construction value has doubled, while all other types have collectively dropped by 8%.

While your electricity rates skyrocketed 40% over the past decade amidst booming profits, WE Energies found enough cash in the couch cushions to donate your electric bill proceeds to various nonprofits - to the tune of $18.2 million in 2025 alone.

So what's the problem? Well, per research from Energy & Policy Institute, which examined the contributions of 10 leading investor-owned utilities, it was found that all of them used their charitable giving to manipulate politics, policies and regulation to increase shareholder profits.

It's time for WI to adopt a wealth tax. When agriculture was king, property tax made sense. When industry was the thing, income tax made sense. Now that an ever-increasing share of our economy is based on investments, a wealth tax is needed to ensure the ultra-rich pay their fair share.

Today is the last day to register to vote online in WI ahead of the November 3rd Elections. After today, you can register at your municipal clerk’s office or in-person on Election Day. Be sure to have a proof of residence and photo ID handy. More details at myvote.wi.gov!

Need another reason to be skeptical of AI data centers? Meta just gave you one - according to tax filings, the company claimed almost $4 billion in tax credits last year for data centers, exploiting a credit meant to encourage experimental research.

There's been a lot of talk about fraud in public benefit programs in recent years, often to justify massive cuts that harm vulnerable individuals. While fraud is real, you may not know that benefit recipients are far more likely to be VICTIMS of fraud than to perpetrate it. Take SNAP for example.

Worst of all, the federal government offers virtually no help to those whose benefits were stolen, and has even stropped tracking the problem. Stopping fraud in government programs is important - but we must do it without harming innocent people.

Intentional program violations account for just 0.08% of all benefits paid each year ($64 million). Meanwhile, in 2025 990,000 households saw a total of $470 million stolen from their accounts. Most didn't find out until their card was declined at the store.

President Trump knows his agenda is highly unpopular, and Americans are demanding accountability. Instead of lifting a finger to lower costs or make government more efficient and effective, he has resorted to attacking his critics by weaponizing the justice system.

This political stunt is designed to stoke fear in the hearts of all who would oppose him, particularly Muslim-Americans. It is an affront to our Democracy, and we cannot allow such behavior to continue.

Crime prevention is: -Good-paying jobs -Strong public schools -Affordable housing -Lead remediation -Youth programming -Well-maintained parks -High-quality public transit -Mental health crisis responders -Violence interruptors -Access to drug treatment -Universal healthcare -Paid family leave

Crime prevention is not… -Forcing police into our schools -Devoting ever-increasing shares of local budgets to policing -Mass surveillance contracts with big tech companies -Long prison sentences coupled with insufficient attention to rehabilitation & reentry

The death penalty is an abomination. The Secretary of Defense promising to livestream an execution, as Pete Hegseth did this week, should itself be a crime. Bloodlust is not a virtue, and as a nation that styles itself the beacon of freedom for the world, we cannot behave this way.
