#RareDiseaseDay25 #Stuttering is a motor speech disorder that is quite common in the general population. Most causes of stuttering are unknown. So far 5 rare genes have been identified to cause stuttering in some individuals: GNPTAB, GNPTG, NAGPA, AP4E1 & PPID See www.geneticsofspeech.org.au

SLP-related research into all the conditions #SLPeeps treat just got a whole lot harder. Indirects are funds on top of a grant award that keep the lights on, fund staff, pay for supplies, buildings, internet, computer access, etc etc etc… hamstring them is a blow to research #SLP #bskySPEECHIES

To help people understand the importance of NIH, share what you’ve used their funding for (in easily understandable terms). I’ll start: my NIH postdoc funding helped me develop and test AI tools that could identify skin cancer across diverse skin tones.

The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices is currently stacked with academic experts well versed in the science of vaccines. A new secretary of Health and Human Services could rapidly change that, Katherine J. Wu writes.

theatlantic.comHow America’s Fire Wall Against Disease Starts to FailChanging the membership of an obscure advisory committee could have an outsize effect on Americans’ protection against disease.

The NIH has broad bipartisan support, pausing/removing funding for #SLP research and countless others through the NIH hurts real people via the conditions we treat and research #slpeeps #bskySPEECHIES #devastated #stuttering

Hey, #SLPeeps and #bskySPEECHIES! The hour is upon us! SUBMIT YOUR CONVENTION CEUs! Don’t lose ‘em!! (I can tell you from experience that ASHA don’t care if you are sick or stuck or whatever - even with all the proof in the world of your attendance to each session, they won’t accept them late!)

This also is good accurate advice for #academic writing #slpeeps

"How do you write so much stuff?!" The key to #writing, I’ve found, is writing. Without actually writing, it’s highly likely you’ll never have written anything. Planning is not writing. Brainstorming is not writing. Reading is not writing. Writing is writing. Go write.
