Comic artist I very much admire posted something that looked suspiciously transphobic on instagram the other day. I really hope it turns out they were just poorly expressing their non-transphobic views.

Oh no, Zack's decided to double-down on Zionism is Racism. I was hoping he would see that the policy is electoral poison and must be cancelled. Evidently not. I joined the Greens way before the Corbynista/entryist influx, and sometimes it really shows.

This is a really strong film. I'd pay to see it. I did pay to see it. That's how I know.

I think Zack is great and I continue to support him but the Green Party is not a personality cult and it is okay to suggest that Zack could maybe have fought a bit harder to stop the ZiR policy from being adopted.

Disappointed that The Green Party has pressed the self-destruct button, though I suppose this was inevitable. I remain as a member but I do not support the new Zionism policy and I am not going to spend one second trying to defend it to anybody. I think it probably is racist.

Revisited Orlando. A beautiful film with a fantastic career-making performance from Tilda Swinton. Did not seem transgressive back in 1992 - and the novel itself is 98 years old! - but now the culture war and the "wizards at boarding school" book woman threaten to undo a century of progress.

Starmer and Reeves were absolutely insane to think that airport expansion was ever going to make any difference to the economy during their time in office. They were also insane to think it was a viable policy and not a climate crime. Let's hope Burnham is not insane. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

bbc.co.ukHeathrow Airport's third runway may be delayed to 2039The UK's busiest airport says the original goal of 2035 will be difficult to meet without simplifying the planning process.

Creature Commandos, which I just watched for the first time, is pretty clearly another another attempt to do Suicide Squad. And it works. Looking forward to Season 2.

The very second BlueSky stops being a liberal bubble, I am out. I do not want to engage with Nazis. I do not want to see what Nazis are posting. I do not want Nazis finding my posts and abusing me for them. We all saw what happened to Twitter, and no one wants to do that again.

Sad about the cancellation of Wonder Man. An unexpectedly great show that seems to have been granted a pretend renewal on the strength of critical acclaim, now publicly rescinded. Disney+ is still borderline worth it for access to the Disney/Fox back catalogue, plus Only Murders In The Building.

We've had literally decades and decades to prevent catastrophic climate change. Not only did we not do that, we didn't even prepare for the catastrophic climate change we decided to cause. Way to go, humanity!

Andy Burnham is a much better communicator than Keir Starmer, and his policies are better too. However, those policies are still essentially small tweaks to a system that is fundamentally broken. Only the Green Party is willing to take radical action to make life better for everyone.

There's a new Rings of Power trailer. It looks great. As ever, the comments are full of massive MAGA idiots complaining that Tolkien's far right views (which he never held, of course) are being direspected.

The Whitechapel Cordon is 48 pages and self-contained. I think Patch is totally right, in that it's a perfect page count. What he doesn't take into account is just how much money it's possible to lose on publishing a 48-page story featuring no characters anybody recognises. Ouch, my poor wallet.

The 48 page comic story is a great format. You can write a Quest, Adventure, Pursuit, Rescue, Escape, or Revenge plot, with build-up, obstacles, a segue, AND characterization, and it's done in one. No reiterating, recapping, or referring to other comic issues.

I rewatched Sirens (1994), because Tara Fitzgerald wrote a poem about Sam Neill. Really enjoyed it, probably more than I did at first viewing. The cast is incredible, and writer/director John Duigan was a major talent back then. Though also, it turned out, a bit of a Joss Whedon.

Keir Starmer was incredibly weak on climate breakdown, and Andy Burnham is *checks notes* much, much worse. Rachel Reeves went down this road. We've already seen that climate-wrecking economic measures do not significantly help with the cost of living crisis. Labour is getting it wrong. Again.

I know many people are excited about The Odyssey, and good luck to you all. I also hope the movie makes a bucketload of cash, because cinema chains really need it. Personally, I'm not really aboard the Nolan train, though I did like Memento.

I saw the Google guy who now runs the BBC wants the licence fee to be replaced by a tax. Yeah, that's never gonna happen. He was unwise to criticise the licence fee. That will give the government the excuse to abolish it. Probably won't be that many years until the Beeb is subscription-based.

Welcome to Britain 2026, where the voters of Clacton have a stark choice: a) Vote for Count Binface, a joke candidate, to be their member of parliament. b) support fascism (a vote for any other party, or none, enables the far right). I can understand why the other parties pulled out, but....

Phillipson is a terrible, terrible education secretary who's insane hatred of creativity is going to destroy many kids lives and irretrievably hurt the British economy. Burnham needs to show her the door.

Arts Professional@artsprofessional.co.uk

Performing and creative arts university courses will no longer receive funding from a government teaching grant as part of “difficult decisions” about spending priorities, Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson has said.

The defence review shows why Starmer and Reeves had to go. They raised a bit of money by cutting a load of totally necessary infrastructure projects. It's not even enough money to sort out defence properly. They did this to avoid a wealth tax. Avoiding a wealth tax was all they ever cared about.

In cinema, I think what's changed recently is that it's got much cheaper to make professional-quality movies on very small budgets. Combine this with general audience fatigue for superhero blockbusters / Pixar-style animations and suddenly the door is open for young and unproven talent again.

I managed to finish this entertaining show just before Netflix decided to kill it. There’s nobody Netflix hates more than Netflix subscribers.

Wow, so it seems that Keir Starmer would literally prefer Russsian tanks to parade up The Strand than to introduce a wealth tax. Probably time he was booted out now.

Lots of platitudes, but this basically means #DoctorWho has been axed. Welcome to 1989, people!!! Get Ian Levine on line 1. The Doctor is officially back in distress.

Hugely sad. We've lost John Blanche. It's hard to know where to begin. He set fire to a generation's imagination, and those fires show no sign of stopping burning. His work very much illuminated the darkness.
