Undergraduate Affairs SRC Subcommittee co-chair Renn Schipper is a PhD student at Kent State University. He has volunteered for the UA and DEI subcommittees, moving up to co-chair. His work examines the role trace metals play as essential nutrients and how they impact carbon and nitrogen processes.

Our Workshop Subcommittee co-chair is Justin Sturtz, a PhD at South Dakota State University. He studies ecosystem effects of riparian invasion across ecosystem boundaries and leverages deep learning algorithms to identify invasive species on the landscape. Thank you for your time with the SRC!

Introducing the SRC Board of Directors chair @champagnee.bsky.social. She is pursuing her PhD on the effects of harmful algal blooms on the microbiomes of shellfish at the University of Memphis. Her work with SRC started with the Emerge program, and she has been very involved with the SRC for years.

I love tip 9. Writing is so much better as a social activity! A 5 minute conversation with a writing partner can save me an hour of spinning my wheels. The other tip I would add is to start writing at the beginning of the research process not the end because writing = thinking.
