I came across Uncloud (uncloud.run) yesterday and just used it to deploy a Django/Postgres app to a Linux VPS. The DX so far has been excellent. It's one of the nicest ways to self-host apps I've used lately. #selfhosting
Upgrading homebrew packages over the weekend broke my site build. Here’s a quick post on how I got things working again. sgoel.dev/posts/upgrad...
Hey Bluesky, @atprotoalternatives.com is live on @uneed.best today and I'd love for your support. And If you find it helpful, an upvote would mean a lot. Thank you! 🦋 #atproto #buildinpublic
Hey Bluesky, we’re live on @uneed.best today and it would mean the world if you could leave an upvote. Thank you! 💙 www.uneed.best/tool/atproto...
After weeks on my to-do list, Open Graph images for @atprotoalternatives.com (for product pages) are finally done. LLMs are especially handy for tasks that you understand but prefer to automate instead. Here's the code: tangled.org/atprotoalter...
Looking to self-host static sites using Caddy? Here’s a blog post I wrote about it last night. sgoel.dev/posts/self-h...
Fun Saturday evening project: Moved @atprotoalternatives.com from Bunny CDN to an Ubuntu VPS running Caddy. Deployment used to be a hassle earlier with a clunky deployment script and API keys. Now deployment is just rsync - simple, fast, and glorious.
I just gave @atprotoalternatives.com a redesign using only ~$3 in tokens (GLM 5.1 using OpenCode Go). The entire process took literally 5 minutes and the design no longer screams "I'm a backend developer". Honestly, it's very impressive.
Maybe it’s observer bias, but I’m seeing new ATproto apps launch every few days since I started working on @atprotoalternatives.com.
Hey @tangled.org I’d love to use a custom domain for a static site. Any hint if this is coming? 👀
Fun use-case for LLMs: writing simple deployment scripts. tangled.org/atprotoalter...
I've been building @atprotoalternatives.com recently - a list of AT protocol alternatives to mainstream products. It’s still a work in progress, but curious what the crowd thinks! #buildinpublic
Honestly, I had a little FOMO seeing everyone move over to @eurosky.social, so I made the move too. My Bluesky PDS is now in the EU and the FOMO has also vanished. 🇪🇺
Wrote and published a quick blog post the other day on setting up PostgreSQL using Kamal, including backups to S3 sgoel.dev/posts/postgr...
I'd forgotten how fun web dev could be until I started building @txtcv.com with a pure server-side setup, using *only* Django and Htmx. Minimal JS build steps, no framework fatigue, just shipping and enjoying the process.

A team generates forty services in two weeks. Three months later, no one knows which validation logic is canonical and nothing can be safely deleted. That's the real industrialization problem. New post in #ThePhoenixArchitecture
