Shadow Cats

Our darling Clementine is 2 years old today! 🍊🥳🪅 Having been with Shadow Cats since May of this year, Clementine has definitely made herself at home here at the Sanctuary. She's a feline leukemia positive resident in Cookie's Cove, and has many-a-friend in there to keep her company!

One thing about Clementine, she wears her heart on her sleeve, and always makes it known when she wants attention, as well as when she DOESN'T want attention😹. She definitely keeps her roommates in check... that's for sure.

Nonetheless, we're so lucky to have Clementine here with us, and it's always a treat to have her come running to your lap, watching her lounge at the catio, or have her screaming her head off at you when dinner rolls around. Here's to many more birthdays with you, Clementine! But for now, happy 2nd💐

Anyone order some Omelette? 🍳☀️ No? Well, Omelette is our newest resident at the Sanctuary. Here's her story! Omelette comes from Converse, near San Antonio. She was originally brought to the shelter because she was so tiny and pregnant, needing to be spayed right away.

Fortunately, we had the space to take her in, and how lucky we are to experience Omelette! She’s the sweetest, most playful girl, it’s hard to imagine her any other way. She can still get anxious when no one else is around, but that’ll change once she has her kitty roommates to keep her company!

We’re so excited to see her settle into Cookie’s Cottage, and we know she will flourish and thrive!

After surgery and her vaccines, she was about to be put up for adoption when they discovered she had Feline Leukemia. The staff began worrying for her health, and they knew they needed to find her placement somewhere before her time was up.

It's Monday morning, and Lottie's feeling awfully chatty! Meanwhile Bebe, the Yin to her Yang, is stuck hitting snooze😴 These FeLV+ kitties reside in Cookie's Kingdom. Lottie can be particular with her affection towards her roommates, but has a soft spot for Bebe! 💚

Whether rain or shine, it's always Caturday 'round these parts😼🌧 Our cats might be going a little stir crazy inside, but Crinkle Fry's always looking on the bright side! Bailey, on the other hand, is taking this stormy day as an excuse to sleep in, can you blame her?

And Dottie... well, she doesn't need an excuse to sleep in, she might not even know it's raining! Stay dry today, folks!

She can, at times, be a little clumsy due to her lack of depth perception. It’s not uncommon for someone to see her winding up for a big jump, then have to hang off the edge for a second before scrambling up. Nonetheless, it never stops her from jumping, no matter how many times she almost falls!

After some battling, she was finally healthy enough to be spayed and have her infected eye removed, but it was discovered that Leela was Feline Leukemia positive. We luckily had room to take her in, so off to Shadow Cats she went!

During her adjustment period in isolation, we were all convinced we would not see much of this cat. She was extremely shy and scared, hiding the second she heard the door open. But, once settled into Cookie’s Cottage, she quickly cozied up to affection from staff, volunteers, and visitors.

Leela comes all the way from Victoria, Texas. Born to a backyard colony and in poor health, a Good Samaritan rescued her and her sister from the situation. Unfortunately, her sister passed away, leaving Leela by herself.

How’s about a little smile from Mango to get you through the middle of the week? 😸 This sweet gal spends a lot of her time resting in a bed but she’s earned the right to do so. Her life started on the streets near Houston as a community cat.

When her caretakers noticed she was sick, they brought her in for care and it was discovered she has feline leukemia. So to Shadow Cats she came! Though still shy, she loves to receive affection and gives it back in return 💚

CORALINE TURNS 2 TODAY! 😻🎆🎉 A FeLV+ resident in Cookie's Cottage, Coraline definitely keeps the rest of these guys on their toes. One second, she'll approach one of her roomies looking for love, and the next, she's batting at them. It's her world, and we're just living in it!

On a serious note, we're so proud of this girl and how far she's come. She was not dealt a good hand, spending the first couple months of her life fighting off a persistent case of ringworm. No one ever gave up on her, and we're fighting for her harder than ever!

Tabbytha is thinking of sleeping in for Sunday. And honestly? She may have the right idea 💚 Call it the Tao of Tabbytha™️

It's that time of the week, happy Caturday folks! 🍀✨🌈 Dexter, Bruce, Enzo, and Callie are some of the Sanctuary's sweetest of sweethearts. Dexter came to us as a FeLV+ kitten, went through a brief edgy teenager phase, but now seeks out love where ever he can get it!

Enzo, a FeLV+ resident in Cookie's Cottage, can be somewhat peculiar about his affection. He'll hide under a box or in a cat tree when you walk in the room, but is always the first cat to sit on your lap once seated.

And Callie, also a FeLV+ in Cookie's Cottage, is as sweet as they come. This girl can make friends with anyone - person or cat - no matter what. She particularly conjures a soft spot for herself in her more feral roommates, which can really help them adjust to their new home. Happy Caturday! 🤸‍♀️😸

Bruce is our bodyguard in Wild Side. He might be physically intimidating, but right underneath the surface is a big ol' teddy bear. To people, that is; his roommate Crinkle Fry does not get "sweet" Bruce that often.

Cookie’s Place is a section of our sanctuary dedicated to cats with feline leukemia, which is often a death sentence of a diagnosis. Here we allow cats like Delilah who have FeLV to live out their lives in a cage-free environment, where they are cared for by our staff and volunteers 💚

We are so sorry to be posting two memorials in one week, but we wanted to share the unfortunate loss of our sweet warrior girl: Nettie. She was one of those cats that touched any soul that crossed her path. Despite only having her in our care for 5 months, we would move mountains for her.

We present to you the fuzzy feet of Kevin! This tabby boy looks pretty wild, and we love him for that 💚 Kevin is one of our recent additions and came to the sanctuary because of his feline leukemia positive status. Settling in just fine, he’s become quite the love bug and all around popular guy😼
