Thank you for all the wonderful performances - rest well, Walter Koenig.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Good news: Maurene Comey is back at SDNY after a judge ruled her firing unlawful Who trusts a case if the prosecutor’s job hangs on pleasing the president? Rules keep the answer simple, & today they protected more than one person -TN

npr.orgJudge says DOJ illegally fired the daughter of former FBI director ComeyMaurene Comey served as a federal prosecutor in Manhattan for around a decade. A judicial ruling finding her dismissal unlawful adds to concerns of politically motivated firings at the DOJ.

Trump loyalty could use a legal benefits package. DOJ is reportedly investigating Corey Lewandowski. With his ally Kristi Noem falling out of favor, his political investment isn’t looking great. But has DOJ found its independence, or has Trump found someone expendable?

…well, Daylight Savings time starts with the clocks being set forward around Spring, not back around Fall/Autumn (that's when it ends)

Barfly Voices@barflyvoices.bsky.social

Why do we still set the clocks back?🤔 We live in a 24/7 world now—and whatever benefit we think we get just balances out over the year anyway. Sure, you get 1 extra hour in bed on Sunday, but by Monday morning, it’s right back to normal!⏰😴 Is it time to ditch daylight saving?

"No one is above the law." Please see the fine print. Presidential power gets an immunity defense. A political opponent gets a raid before the midterms. We’re entitled to more than "trust us." #UnderColorOfLaw #PresidentialImmunity #RuleOfLaw

The Ilhan Omar investigation could run long past the midterms. So why raid now, right before the election? It’s hard to argue this couldn’t wait when the investigation itself is nowhere near finished. https://youtu.be/wNuj8hBRYb4 #IlhanOmar #RICO #Midterms #2026Midterms #JusticeDepartment

Investigators reportedly searched Ilhan Omar’s family’s trash for DNA before getting warrants. Why go that route? They might not have had enough evidence to compel a sample. That’s why the order matters. https://youtu.be/wNuj8hBRYb4 #IlhanOmar #DNAEvidence #FederalInvestigation

“National security” is doing so much heavy lifting, it should invoice the White House. The Supreme Court gave presidents sweeping immunity. Now everything’s a Commander in Chief issue. Funny how accountability never seems to get security clearance. #Trump #SupremeCourt #SCOTUS

Federal agents reportedly raided Ilhan Omar’s home. But the old immigration allegations may be too old to prosecute. So what exactly is the case? A dozen raids suggest investigators are after something bigger. https://youtu.be/wNuj8hBRYb4 #IlhanOmar #FederalInvestigation

The midterms don’t end when the polls close. Watch for ballot seizures and certification fights. California’s Supreme Court ordered Sheriff Bianco to return roughly 650,000 ballots. A badge is not a custody agreement. https://youtu.be/wi8CPNtRB_M #Midterms2026 #ElectionLaw #VotingRights #ShanWu

He fucking murdered her and has yet to face any justice! As of now, the ICE agent who shot Renee Good, Jonathan Ross, has not faced any criminal charges or justice for the incident. The Department of Justice has declined to investigate the shooting, leading to significant public outcry and protests.

ICE at the polls? Federal law prohibits armed federal deployments where elections are held, except to repel armed enemies. An administration nervous about the midterms does not qualify. “Election security” needs legal authority. https://youtu.be/wi8CPNtRB_M #Midterms2026 #VotingRights #ICE

Losing an election is still legal. Being upset about it does not expand presidential authority. With the midterms approaching, Trump wants more control because voters might do something outrageous, like vote against Republicans. Most candidates understand that risk before ordering the yard signs.

The First Amendment has no presidential customer satisfaction guarantee. Terrible news for Trump. We should measure press freedom by the reporting allowed, not the badges returned.

She reported rape. That should have brought questions, follow-up and a serious investigation. If the Cornell DA thought the statement didn’t add up, his job was to find out why. She had already spoken up. The burden of investigating belonged to him. #Cornell #SurvivorsDeserveJustice
