With FanGraphs projections now being pretty fully baked, looking at which players make up the highest percentage of both their side of the team and their total team projected WAR. Highlighted blue players who account for 20%+ of their team's pitching/hitting WAR projection

How is AI a person? How could that be half of the people on a planet when they aren't people? Are autonomous cars people?

“We believe that in the near future half the people on the planet will be AI, and we are the company that’s bringing those people to life,” said CEO Jeanine Wright, who was previously chief operating officer of podcasting company Wondery www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/dig...

While I haven't done annual updates on the "state of public NFL analytics" I still keep track of things and I think this is going to be the first year that no provider launched anything new or an enhancement? At least, haven't seen anything from anywhere. Somebody drop something neat!

Minor data gripe: PFF article mentions how subscribing to PFF+ gives you data and insights, but then they reference data that you can't even get from subscribing. Highlighted some examples where you can't look this data up on PFF itself but they cite it in an article.

Ended up reading both The Road and No Country in a week. Road was just okay, but No Country is probably now my favorite book of all time (tied with White Noise). On to Blood Meridian first then Suttree.

Caglianone has a 16 wRC+ including tonight, 4th lowest for a Royals rookie (min. 40 PA). But on a positive spin, the best player in Royals franchise history had the worst rookie hitting season in franchise history.

This is actually a funny point raised here: the Royals catchers are so good at preventing steals when they happen, it prevents them from having opportunities to throw out runners (and turn a hit/walk into an out) and thus, not add the value other teams have with lower rates!

No joke, Rich Hill is only 4 degrees of separation from Babe Ruth. Rich Hill -> Greg Maddux -> Goose Gossage -> Hank Sauer -> Billy Werber -> Babe Ruth

We have signed LHP Rich Hill to a minor league contract. He will report to Surprise and is expected to join Omaha (AAA) soon.

Royals lineup every night is Bob Witt Jr turning a single into a double and then a prayer that the rest of the lineup can put together four consecutive singles off of 80 MPH exit velo batted balls

Basically the easiest way to know if a player is good or not is how quickly they get extended. Getting an 8-year extension 20 plate appearances into your career pretty much is star level talent.

The Red Sox have reached an eight-year, $60M deal with Kristian Campbell for 2025-32 that includes team options for 2033 and 2034.

The PFF Draft Guide is out. Last year it sadly was only really half finished, but this year it's the full thing. Full of scouting profiles, traditional stats, advanced stats, and the always necessary player comps.

CHI - Jeanty "slide" stops. I don't typically advocate for an RB in the early-1st but I think this would be fine at 1.10 given the other options and needs DEN - I know reports are that Broncos like their WR room but it needs helps IMO LAC - they have to take a WR if there

HOU - probably too early on Zabel but could perhaps play at any spot on the OL and they need help all over it BAL - worries me to take another ED with no production (Oweh) but... KC - Loveland I know seems way too low but do you like TEs for what a TE can do or for WR receivers?

Notes: TEN - Ward isn't a particularly great QB prospect, TEN is a bad roster, okay to punt on the position and take the freak ED NYG - I'm about to be fired at GM, this is my hail mary LV - you need defense (or WR), not the time for a RB this early NO - Carr is gone in 2026

Nets to be something like a mid-6th pickup for Buffao plus they get the $2.6M cap savings when they are pretty tight against the cap. Doesn't quite recoup what they net paid for Elam but it's not that far off (ignoring the value they lost with the pick itself)

Looking at Joey Bosa's numbers, his get off time has stayed the same, but his time to pressure, pressure rate, and sack rate have all gone down. Could it be his reaction skill has stayed the same, but his physical movements have been reduced due to injury?

Seen some valid chatter that the Chiefs signing Fulton allows McDuffie to play in the slot more, which makes me think that when it comes time to extend McDuffie, you can't pay him like an elite outside corner ($25M APY)? Maybe closer to nickel DB or free safety?

I'd be tempted to say the Chargers should be in the Trey Hendrickson business but I'm not sure the roster is there just yet. You make the move for Hendrickson as a final piece rather than a long term building block.

Honestly still sorta surprised that the Chiefs, as cap thirsty as they sorta are (yes yes levers to pull), are actually going to roll with Kelce at $19.8M. 11th highest 2025 cap number for a WR/TE (after Kupp gets cut).

Kelce has no guaranteed money left (besides the prorated bonus he's due regardless). Chiefs are sorta asleep on this if they didn't at least go to Kelce and say "hey man let's work on this figure a bit". Doesn't mean cut him but $17M in cap savings ain't nothing when you are currently in the red

I kinda think I'd rather have Darnold at 3/$100Mish than Geno + a 3rd rounder for the same? But at the same time, you need to also spend on the line too, so there is more investment needed for Darnold (though Geno would have been nice to have a better line for too).
