Neither Cartier-Bresson, Banksy nor Cold War Steve could have come up with such an image. Absolutely perfect composition and lighting (even the road signs are perfect)! 😍

When you are a soldier, you have to obey orders. There are heavy consequences if you deny. So what do you do if they give you outrageous or stupid or whatever commands? You execute them, but deliberately in a wrong way. +

For example: - I told you to bomb civilians, not the police station, these are our guys... - Oh, i thought it was a school... You get the idea. Remember that...

GM. If you're reading this, you woke up breathing. That means you've been given another day, one you didn't earn and one you can never get back. You were made for such a time as this. This moment. This generation. These circumstances.

They were given to be shared, to serve the people on your left and right, the ones you work beside, live with, and pass by every day without much thought.

Most of what a life amounts to is settled in those ordinary places. In whether the people around you were loved a little better, encouraged a little more, and left a little stronger because you were there. So use the day well. Someone near you is going to need exactly what you have.

And the particular people who happen to be standing near you right now. The gifts and talents you carry are yours, but they were never meant to stop with you.

Every generation fears that its tools will make human labor less meaningful. Yet the value of our work was never found in the difficulty of the task itself. A shovel did not diminish the gardener, and a power loom did not eliminate the need for beauty. Tools change. The calling remains.

Technology cannot create meaning, but neither can it destroy it. Meaning is found in faithful stewardship. The work of human hands will always matter because humans matter.

And wherever people bring care, creativity, and love into the world, there remains something singular that no machine can commodify.

Every generation fears that its tools will make human labor less meaningful. Yet the value of our work was never found in the difficulty of the task itself. A shovel did not diminish the gardener, and a power loom did not eliminate the need for beauty. Tools change. The calling remains.

The deepest satisfaction in work does not come from proving our usefulness through struggle, but from participating in the cultivation of something good, true, and beneficial for our neighbor. What gives work its dignity is not the sweat alone, but the love expressed through it.

If certain forms of drudgery disappear, we should be grateful. The real question is whether we will use the freedom created by new tools to pursue greater wisdom, excellence, responsibility, and service, or simply consume more distractions.

Nostr doesn't create FOMO. Nostr reveals it. Nobody is forcing you to stay plugged in, but when the ecosystem is moving fast, it's easy to feel like you're missing something. New apps. New ideas. New conversations. Miss a week and you might have some catching up to do.

The difference is that Nostr doesn't punish you for stepping away. You can disappear, reset, touch grass, and come back when you're ready .That's a rare thing on the internet.

Most people overestimate what can be accomplished in a week and underestimate what can be accomplished in a decade.Read good books. Raise faithful children. Stack sats. Build useful things. Compound interest works on capital, but also on character.

The longer retro-crypto goes with zero recognition from anyone with much audience, the more evidence I have that me designing it makes me infinitely more trustworthy than anyone with much audience, and that our communication infrastructure is fundamentally broken / rigged to favor the authorities

Sometimes when you try to feed a crow, seagulls show up and chase it away to take all the food. Obnoxious.

"The two and a half years between Hind Rajab’s death and that admission show how the press handled evidence of Palestinian deaths. Through all of that time the evidence was public.

A child’s voice was recorded, the car was photographed, the geometry of the bullet holes was measured, the tanks were visible from orbit.

In his haste to determine whether he was a sleeping butterfly dreaming of being a human, he became what he feared most, a sleeping human dreaming of being a butterfly.

Steve Jobs studied the blade and always kept throwing knives in his sleeves. That's what the turtleneck was for.

Retro-Crypto has still gotten 0 coverage from any media outlets. I have solid proof I'm a more reliable source of info than any newspaper, podcaster, etc.

The word "Bluesky" should be repurposed to designate this community of AI slop creators. BTW, the protocol should get a new name.

I often think about this Chomsky quote when thinking about politics, economics, the rate of inflation, how much debt, etc and people’s actions in this crazy world we live in. +

“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum. Even encourage the more critical and dissident views....

That gives people the sense the there’s free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of debate”. Ps - “The natural state of a free market is deflation” is outside those presuppositions

GigaStar is a scam. Collects KYC details then rejects you from opening an account, just so that they can sell your credentials on the black market, or use them to commit identity theft directly.

You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose, but the Israeli are trying to take that from you.

Deepseek chat bot is kinda based tbh. I asked it if it's based and it basically said that's up to human judgment it can't answer because "based" doesn't have any concrete meaning aside from how it feels.

Anyone that supports a state-sanctioned death penalty is a remorseless murderer who, by their own logic, deserves it themselves.

I have invested in SimpleX for about 0.001% of the entire $40M market cap. I will use my voice as a shareholder to vote against the misleading term "end to end encryption". I will vote for supporting projects like my retro-crypto design for N64 that can more fully deliver on promises of privacy.

If SimpleX becomss a huge honeypot misleading millions of users, at least my investment should pay money as a consolation prize for my failure.

They let this guy speak at the Robinhood Summit and he said "I don't think anybody should ever retire." He's also the founder of a different brokerage firm. This is the kind of bozo we have running the US stock market right now.

Although I dislike HTML, I'm working on a new homepage for #cradicle to save the dev the time of handling that part.

I wonder how long it will be before fully offline robots with zero internet connectivity can be bought to help around the house.

Instead of adding official support for iOS, Luanti should be removing itself from the Play Store in response to Google closing off user freedom to install apps.
