I'm not my ancestors. Some of my ancestors were evil. I won't take credit for what they did right and reject any blame for their evil. You're not your ancestors. Some of them may have been godly. Some of them may have been victims. You're not them.

One of the best Obsidian plugins for those who are concerned with consistency and style is named "Linter". It was upgraded today. This is good news and bad news. The "bad news" is the upgrade was so intensive the developer is not absolutely certain of its stability. github.com/platers/obsi...

I am fine with journalists criticizing the president for banning certain journalists and news outlets. I am fine with other news outlets boycotting coverage of the administration. But what irks me is misrepresenting what rights are granted to the press by the first amendment. (See next post)

There wasn't any space provided to journalists in the White House before the twentieth century. The first amendment does not guarantee access to the White House. Criticize the president for how he reacts to things he doesn't like if you so choose but don't misrepresent the constitution.

We appear to be living in a time when misrepresentation of the facts is being promoted from every direction. When both the Montagues and the Capulets are engaged in demagoguery and attempts to clarify the facts are seen as being partisan.

I have started a podcast for Bible believers. www.seekingthefountain.com The first episode is based on John 1:1-4. The second episode is based on Luke 1. The third episode will be released in the middle of September. It will be on Luke 2:1-16 and is titled "The birth of Jesus".

Pick the greatest atrocity which a human has ever done. The person who committed that atrocity was created in God's image. The fact that people who engage in certain activities have been created in God's image does not justify what they do. God commands us all to repent of what He has condemned.

You cannot say you love someone and do things which are detrimental and ruinous to that person. Love is something one does. "Love one another" does not mean simply have an emotion towards each other. Love is a verb which one is being told to do to others.

"Religion" is either of divine origin OR It is a human construct. A person cannot hold both views. Any religion which considers itself to be a human construct thereby denies that it is of divine origin. Therefore, "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools".

The project will "cover all religious traditions" and will "focus on human purpose, the meaning of life, and what it is to live well, including ‘down-stream’ questions connected to religious practice."

"Rejoice not when your enemy falls, And let not your heart be glad when he is overthrown;" בּנפל אויבך אל־תּשׂמח וּבכּשׁלו אל־יגל לבּך׃ I've been blocking quite a number of Bsky accounts today for rejoicing at another's calamity.

Would you block this? Korah the Levite wanted "to serve God" while at the same time disrespecting the choices which God had made. Moses told Israel, Korah was therefore REJECTING God. Num. 16:30 נִאֲצוּ = Strong's Hebrew Word # 5006 Look it up in a Hebrew lexicon. "God has chosen" 1 Cor. 1:27-31

Optimist: The cup is half full. Pessimist: The cup is half empty. Topologist: The cup is equivalent to a doughnut.

Optimist: The cup is half full. Pessimist: The cup is half empty. Copy editor: Nine pages ago it was described as a "mug"; do you intend the terms to be interchangeable or is this supposed to be a different drinking vessel?

This latest attempt against Google is another attempt to go as far away from the center as possible. Although you are correct that from a practical side it makes no sense, yet from an ideological side it fits with the pattern. (Continued)

It does not matter what the real-world consequences of an action might be as long as the ideology is pursued. Expect more of the same kind of attitude (but from the other extreme) over the course of the next four year.

@ivacheung.bsky.social My feed shows you reposted a post by someone who reposted this post: bsky.app/profile/fain... This post uses the phrase "absolutely imperfect". Would you, if editing, suggest replacing "absolutely" with a different modifier?

I've lived in countries that lack the food safety protections we have in the US, and I think a lot of Americans don't really understand just how frequent injuries and deaths from dangerous food are in places that lack even our own (absolutely imperfect) standards.

If one combines Romans 4:16 and Romans 11:6 it should be obvious that anything which is through faith is thus of grace and thus not of works. So, how does one explain Hebrews 11:7, 8, 30? In these 3 examples, activity preceded God's blessing. Yet they were OF GRACE. Prevalent theology is WRONG .

When talking about Bible things use the Bible's definition for the words you use. Faith comes from having received assurances (testimony) from God regarding things which we have not seen. "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God." Your belief w/o God's revealed word is not faith.

Is your religion based on what is pleasing to you? "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

Does God rule in your life without your veto? There are some teachings in the Bible which go against what I would like to have be true. But what I would like is irrelevant. Since God exists and will judge those who transgress, if my religion is based on what I would like then I will be condemned

One of the essential elements of true faith is respecting God's right to choose. Paul discusses both God's choices and those who reject God's right to choose in 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 Korah and Uzziah are examples of people who did not respect God's right to choose. God's choice excludes all else.

The Bible teaches that God is constant & unchanging. We change because we are incomplete. But, God predetermined before creation that He would deal with man differently at different times. Thus from our perspective, His laws & methods seem to have changed but God planned all of it from the beginning
