Ugly bird girl. Angry. Parent. Artist. Nonbinary, She/Her. Not anyone of note. Basically a chubby trash panda with anxiety. https://ko-fi.com/shinybluething23640 if you want to help with the cats.

This. I have not been to one for over two decades, but I know they look like themed casino restaurants, yet somehow ... worse. Only missing the slot machines. The person who dragged me in there? Racist ex mother in law.

I'm beginning to think you all have never been inside a Cheesecake Factory. This is what they look like. This is the joke.

Like I'll see people be like "Shakespeare made a mistake about X historical thing in Y play" and it's like, no, he didn't. That was not a goal of the enterprise.

Got home from the distribution half of food pantry volunteer work. Very busy today, ran out of bags, made more. Sat down. Took off half my leggings and one sock, sweaty. Went to put my bare foot down. My hip slid out, muscles spasmed, my knee slid a bit and my leg locked. I screamed.

My spouse woke up and found the pressure point tool and my cane. An hour of working on it and I could shift enough to put a therapy ball under my hip. another half hour and I could, finally, straighten my leg and finish changing. It is now a cane day. I hate when my joints do this.

Americans, please don’t worry about your child coming home from school a different sex. Worry about your child not coming home from school because they were shot to death.

It is, again, super weird going back to school, as an old, to finish my unfinished art degree. The other students all keep calling me "talented" and I keep telling them it's just lots (and lots) of practice. You would be this good with everything, too, if you had been doing it for 30+ years.

Use reference. I’m serious. I get it that somehow you or someone convinced you that using reference is “cheating.” It’s not. You are just hindering yourself.

Today I am torn between unsurprised, resigned horror at the storm damage facing every coast we have (with a side of worry about folks in those places) and irritation (also unsurprised and resigned) at having to close my house up and put the ac back on. In mid October. Because 90+ and humidity.

This is ostensibly a conversation about Ravelry & fiber arts influencers — but it's actually a conversation about the freelancification of creative work, the decline of institutions that made that work sustainable, and the hollowing out of the creative economy: www.patreon.com/CultureStudy...

I finally figured out what bothers me so much about Pluribus: I *already* live in a society that relies on unspoken communication/rules that make no sense to me. One that is super isolating to this who don't fit in. It reads to me as a kind of allegory on being autistic in a neurotypical world.

Jaws. I was tiny, my aunt (18) and uncle (15) were babysitting, and *they* wanted to see it. About the point the tiny kid gets eaten through the yellow floaty, I was under the seats and crawling away, uphill. After, they found me pressed against the back wall, still under a seat.

In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

I want to know which edition of the Art History text actually maps to the midterm I just did on "chapters 24-29." Half the essay questions didn't actually apply to the assigned reading, and half the assigned reading didn't apply to the essay questions. I'm guessing reorganized chapters.
