I think sometimes its important to draw a dragon the way your 9 year old self would have appreciated. Look at her. Shes dreadful. What a splendid beast.

Haven't been online much, but here's a doodle I did recently of a CATAPHRACTS character I'm playing. They're... a really different vibe, for me. Usually I play big old dudes. Anyway, I swear I'm still alive!

This is brilliant

Pleased to tell y'all that We Wander Beneath Radiant Lights is OUT IN FULL! urania-games.itch.io/we-wander-be... This game was originally written in a fever dream state for @shoutingcrow.bsky.social's Below A Bad Moon Jam. Today, she's fully released with all the bells and whistles!

Picking up a pen and drawing something every day is a great way to build yourself up, especially when you don’t think of yourself as an artist. One day, you’ll feel like you’ve earned the title. Eventually you’ll realize you earned it the moment you picked up the pen. I’m proud of you, Exeunt.

A lot will be happening over on my Itch page, including a ton of print at home foldable versions of my games inspired by @shoutingcrow.bsky.social But until they are uploaded, from now you can grab a physical copy of Pirouette and Grotty Gobbo's Tea Grotto! These are VERY limited, only 7 of each

innocentgoblin.itch.ioPirouette: A Solo Horror Ballet TTRPG by InnocentGoblinThe show must go on, even if it kills you!

Oof, this one’s so heavy, I haven’t been able to commission art for it or finish the work myself. If you wanna feel some kinda way, check out this stream. Good luck, Wyvern!

I'll be going well out of my comfort zone for this week's #solorpg Thursday - Body to Die For by @shoutingcrow.bsky.social is about body horror, transphobia, body dysmorphia, and death. I've wanted to stream it for a while, but I needed to make sure I could respectfully handle the subject.

Interrupting my summer of inactivity to say: oh holy crap, one of our blue pearl neocaridina shrimp is carrying eggs! There’s a little yellow shrimp just below her, to the right. Li’l bonus for ya.

Got a lot of new followers today, but I haven’t been very productive this summer. Please enjoy this (invasive) mollusk shell that my kid found in the river. We spend a lot of time outside this time of year, but I’ll be back to posting bookbinding, publishing, and TTRPG stuff in September!

We bully people into great things in the Plus One discord. Also if you want to support @vidityavoleti.bsky.social's Longsword @hipolita.itch.io's RAD @apesofwrath.bsky.social's Down We Go Tony's Through The Void Or one of our other house systems we would love to help you

So after a discussion in a discord server (and being told I'd be a coward if I didn't set this up) here's the Indie Adventure Jam. Make a THING for your favourite #ttrpg that doesn't have enough THINGS. Simple as that, you have two months. itch.io/jam/indie-ad...

I think about this a lot and definitely feel that a game is not truly complete until it has at least one adventure supplement to support it and show what playing that game is actually like. It's like a video game with no story. Cool mechanics but how do I use them?

Shouting Crow@shoutingcrow.bsky.social

Critically, the rest of the book is a SAMPLE ADVENTURE. Do you know how USEFUL that is?! Even as a reference for formatting?! If you want people to write adventures for your games, for goodness’ sake, give them an idea of what those adventures should look like, more or less!!

Anyway. Go write an adventure for an indie game today. Then go play it. Or, you know, wild thought: post it online for other people to play, too. Doesn’t that sound fun? Games are supposed to be fun. Let’s facilitate that.

The interesting part is that the GM’s guide is 13 pages long, and 6 of them are dedicated to “how to construct NPCs”. The implication here is that character interactions are absolutely vital to the themes of this system. Does your game support its own themes like that? Something to think about.

After that, you get into quest construction: why are the knights here, what is this place, what will challenge them. The quest map in Longsword is a 4x4 grid, each adventure an intimate experience, advising that larger campaigns can connect those grids. This is designed with intent and it shows.

The game master’s guide for LONGSWORD literally spells out how to present an adventure, folks. Step by step. If it doesn’t, and it’s an adventure-kinda-game, it’s not very useful. Indie systems aren’t as well supported as, say, DnD 5e. Your GM has to do the work themselves. Give them tools.

The GM’s guide first discusses what kind of adventures are relevant to the themes, and what kind of experience players want to get out of them. Setting expectations is important. Then it talks a bit about mechanisms of play and when dice rolls come into the picture. Cool, useful, good.

Plus One is looking for 4 "Zine Weight" #TTRPS to help support next year in a very particular way. We want to run 4 titles by newer creators through 4 different "funding platforms" & track the process for each one. The platforms are: -Kickstarter -Backerkit -Gamefound -Zine Club 1/4

Write an adventure for an indie system you read or played recently. Go on, do it. Even if you don’t think of yourself as a game designer. It doesn’t have to be great— it just has to be playable. One page, back and front. Three pages. An unformatted google doc. A postcard dungeon. Doesn’t matter.

I try not to put spiders into my games, out of consideration for my arachnophobic friends, but I am making a terrarium for my girlfriend and look what I found while misting it today… webs! (This shot was selected because it does not have a visible spider) What a productive little dude.

play games outside your discipline, even if you don't like them. engage with why you do or don't like them. it's great practice! you should try to experience OSR, trad, storygame, gmless, solo, fkr, larp, etc and see how they warp your idea of what our goofy little hobby is

You can draw with shape tools in any layout program. Or sunlight and stencils and vegetable juice. Collage is a legitimate art form. You can paint with coffee. You can burn a stick to make charcoal. You don’t have to be “good at art” to make art. There is no gatekeeper. The process is the point.

Hey TTRPG crew. If you can't afford to hire a great artist like Evlyn (she's worth it, though) and you use Affinity Publisher to lay out your games, I can teach you how to draw this little bird using nothing but shape tools. You don't need fancy equipment to make half-decent art and I'll prove it: 🧵

Digital 'What If' rules for tactical skirmish wargaming against the Hellwhale with every backing of the book. A deadly naval combat against hell's foulest sea beast. Entirely tables of procedural events for every roll of the dice. New scraps of horrific lore, and two haunting epilogues.

Genuinely worth checking out, folks. Very much something I’m looking for the right group to play with me.
