China’s first AI-generated theatrical film, ‘Sanxingdui: Future Past’, has bombed at their domestic box office, only making $121,000 USD against a budget of $1.5M USD. In contrast, the crudely animated ‘Niu Lai’ made nearly $10M USD against a budget of $200-500 USD.

playing phantasy star online and phantasy star portable 2i side by side is a great case study of core gameplay (combat) being fleshed out and being "better" on paper in many ways makes for a worse complete experience. add on top a heavy focus on (a bad) story and psp2 has lost much of why I like pso

I did not expect phantasy star online's storytelling to be as smart as it is, really surprised by how well it integrates it into the actual super simplistic gameplay and never gets in the way. I want to write a few longer posts about it when I habe my hands free

already second time buying a gift for wife and it gets messed up and I dont get anything, this time parcel destroyed after xray so probably can get my money back

phantasy star online (the first one) is pretty dope, easy to appreciate the kind of minimalism it (unintentionally) does and the vibes are top notch

I ordered my burger without onions, and they made it without onions! I am a chef!

as a smaller dev I feel its a moral imperative my games work on weaker pc's optimally also on cheapish android game consoles. not always easy tho especially regarding distribution

I honestly feel bad for the younger generation and how they are priced out of the hobbies. Expensive PC parts, expensive toys, expensive games and now expensive video game consoles. It's insanity, this isn't normal.

the humans got something to fight back with now #gamedev #godot

Sometimes still think about how Doom 2016 had doomguy destroy a thing that was trying to explain lore and story to him, rejecting the very idea of exposition and lore in a doom game and then the next 2 games just decided "you know what? this game needs more lore"

I wanna stop fucking seeing AI, man, I am so sick of it. Even the dunks are no longer fun. People need to tag AI like it's gore atp.

idTech is not dead. idTech has already secured its immortality in its early iterations up to Tech 4, protected by the GNU General Public Licence. No, we don't have 5 thru 8. I don't know what the future holds. Amazing things can happen in unexpected ways, but for now we've got a few good engines. 🧵

this is unfortuntely the case, working in non-games software its impossible to avoid unless you're in a position to make every decision. the worst part is, like Brian is saying, the tools actually work so its not going anywhere. at least I can keep my gamedev hobby pure without any of the lame shit

any software engineer in your life is going to be under *immense* pressure to learn these tools, and might find them useful, and most engineers *must* do this or just *fucking die* because that's how capitalism works

poor dumbo dumpling's condition got worse last week and he passed away last night 💔

shp@shpuld.bsky.social

he has started to eat and drink more by himself again 🙏🙏🙏 still lots of antibiotics ahead for him

with a few minutes of work, I can then break up the shape with bunch of CSG Spheres and it's no longer clean straight lines only #godotengine

modular terrain pieces created using CSG within #godotengine, this time CSGPolygon3D really helps drive it unfortunately I had to spend quite a while refining my script that cleans up baked CSG geo (notice bottom removed) to make sure the vert normals along seams are consistent #gamedev
