Wittman supporters claim he has “moral character” and is “a good man." We judge people by their actions, not just their words. By that measure, Rob Wittman has a major problem, and the supporters he’s duped should be livid. Is Rob a legislator with integrity? No. We must replace him. Here’s why.

open.substack.comWe need morality and good character in our representativeBut we won’t get those with Rob Wittman. Here’s why.

We were early on our side of the street at No Kings. A man came along soon after. "Wondered if people would be here with the weather," he said. I replied what I'd been saying to myself: "If Americans could charge Omaha Beach, I can stand in the rain for a while."

Tomorrow!

mobilize.usNO KINGS 4: Vote Early Williamsburg, Virginia and Flu Vaccination Clinic, October 17, 2026 · No Kings***WE DECIDE WHO REPRESENTS US. WE DECIDE WHAT COMES NEXT.*** For more than a year, millions of people have come together to reject the idea that power belongs to kings, billionaires, or politicians who believe they are above the people and the law. Now, we are taking the next step, turning PEOPLE POWER into VOTER POWER. Unlike previous No Kings actions, No Kings: Vote Early, is not purely a protest. Instead, on October 17th, it's a day of nonpartisan voter participation: we are bringing the community together to make a plan to vote early and ensuring every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote and has the opportunity to make their voice heard. Because no one person gets to decide our leaders before voters do, on October 17th, join us as we show that WE, THE PEOPLE, have the power and are coming together to get out the early vote and scream: NO THRONES. NO CROWNS. NO KINGS. Also at this event: A FLU VACCINATION CLINIC - Run by Walgreens Thank you Walgreens for providing this much-needed service to our community. If you need your annual flu vaccination, it will be available at this event. Bring your I.D. and health insurance card. If you are not insured, vouchers will be available. WE SUPPORT VACCINATIONS!!! You may register online beforehand to avoid filling out the paperwork at the event. Here is the link: https://www.walgreens.com/registerhttps://www.walgreens.com/offsite-experiences/vaccinations/register?oid=6a9c1ace34be9fc38fbd685d THE PEOPLE IN WILLIAMSBURG HAVE SPOKEN AND WE HAVE LISTENED – after a short introduction about early voting, we will proceed with CHANTS AND MUSIC, CHANTS AND MUSIC, CHANTS AND MUSIC!!! This event is being hosted by Williamsburg JCC Indivisible, Indivisible Essex, and Mystic Mother Earth. Where: Williamsburg James City County Courthouse, located at 5201 Monticello Avenue, Williamsburg, VA. When: October 17, at 2pm. Our Chanters will be: Stan Scott, retired Army Armor NCO with graduate degrees in Political Science, Public Policy, and International Relations and co-host of the Two Crusty Old Combat Soldiers with a Microphone podcast AND Jason Moulenbelt, U.S. Marine Veteran and Professor of Philosophy. How to Prepare for Your Event: Bring signs or props → Make your message visible! It's a good rule of thumb to create signs that do not use sticks or anything else for support that can be perceived as a weapon. Poster Boards and other supplies can be purchased at the Dollar Tree (one of the companies that still has a DEI policy.) IDEAS FOR SIGNS: -VOTE EARLY IN PERSON -NO KINGS IN AMERICA -NO MAD KINGS ALLOWED!!! -THE PEOPLE UNITED WILL NEVER BE DIVIDED -WE ARE NOT YOUR PIGGY BANK! -THE FLAG BELONGS TO ALL OF US -WE ARE "ANGELS OF DEMOCRACY" -THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE! -STOP THE SHAKEDOWN! -WE ARE NOT FOR SALE! Recruit friends → The more people, the more power. Record everything → Post photos/videos with #NoKings #NoKingsWilliamsburg There is NOT a bathroom available at the Courthouse. Please use the facilities beforehand. If you do not want to worry about parking, here is the link to the Williamsburg Area Transit Authority https://gowata.org/. There are 314 parking spaces behind the Courthouse, including 8 handicap spaces. Behind the Courthouse at Voter Registration and the Court Support buildings, there are another 109 parking spaces. There is also parking across the street from the Courthouse in New Town. DO NOT PARK in the church parking lot - they threatened to tow vehicles last time. Don't forget cold beverages and snacks. We will have ice and a limited amount of water under the blue canopy. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring a chair if needed. WHATEVER CONTAINER YOU BRING HOLDING YOUR ESSENTIALS, PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE IT UNATTENDED! ***A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.***

My family was Methodist, but I went to a Baptist college, though it was fiercely liberal arts at the time. In those days, one of the math classes was a course in logic. Took me a while, but I eventually committed fallacies to memory and learned to do logic proofs. 3/4

It’s a nice supplement to a bullshit detector. Sadly when you point out someone’s deploying a fallacy these days, they refuse to hear it and meet you with another fallacy. And the school’s changed, even its name. I’m not my alma mater’s favorite son. 4/4

The data analyst played by Mikey Madison grows frustrated trying to explain trends she’s revealed to Jeremy Allen White’s Wall Street Journal reporter. “Did you go to a Baptist school where math was considered witchcraft!?” Fair enough these days, but it reverberated a bit. 2/4

Scored a poster at The Social Reckoning. I had a spot on the shelves in my book room. Favorite line is from Mikey Madison as Frances Haugen: “The trouble with literature is that it sets an impossibly high standard for us. Fictional heroes always know exactly when to be brave…”

Important details about Rob Wittman in Va. 1st.

Wittman Watch@wittmanwatch.bsky.social

Wittman’s vote for HR1 has thrown 94,000 Virginians off healthcare SO FAR. From January 1, even more will lose access - not because they’re ineligible but because of bureaucratic traps that HR1 deliberately created. Wittman voted for it. We will all pay the price. #NoWittman

A former student asked about getting inspired to write again. I made a suggestion. That led to a new piece of flash fiction about a guy who tosses a beloved stuffed toy. It’s coming free Monday in my Sid Happens newsletter. Subscribe my website to receive it when it drops.⬇️
