Headteacher of the primary school I went to when I was little. Worked here for over 20 years and still love it. We were evacuated 16/01/23. Can’t wait to be back together as one school. Also love books.

Waiting for an armoured polar bear to stroll pass. Morocco bar giving Jordan College vibes. Maybe I’ll get passed a golden alethiometer rather than a cava.

Autumn 1: done ✅ It’s been exciting watching the groundwork for our new school building but I’m ready for a little change of scenery. High vis packed away for a whole week 🎉

But this view is the best way to start the day 🩷📚 There is something wonderful about seeing our children lost in a book on their morning commute.

Living KS2 portacabin life in a tennis court, right across from the pickeball crowd and now a brand new padel setup on the other side. I feel like the universe is shouting at me to take up a racket sport.

Our kids are on residential this week. We are on strike but some of the team made sure the residential could go ahead because they are awesome. Love this photo from today.

Staff at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Barrow-on-Furness began industrial action today after talks with the Mater Christi Trust failed. They seek compensation for excessive hours and extra responsibilities following their evacuation from the school building over three years ago.

🎬 Moving With… Taking Our Place🎬 Such an incredible opportunity and very special project for our children. We couldn’t be prouder of what they have achieved. Here’s a little sneak peek of the film 🎥 Watch the full film here: vimeo.com/1230172693/1... A huge thank you to Lucy and all involved ❤️

Here we go with day 2 of the inspection. Haven’t needed to call on St Jude yet. My main concern at this point is that the team will organise a trip to the pub tonight when I will definitely just want my pjs.

The school has never been cleaner and the displays have never been straighter. I have also never had so much coffee by 5:26.

A standard night before inspection tea last night. We’ve got this 💪🏼 ❤️ @simonebeach.bsky.social @a-mymaguire.bsky.social

Up early doors. When work feels a lot my husband suggests a long walk. He’s so right, it’s good for wellbeing. But I’ve stated my boundaries again …. For me that walk looks like sticking to a path that ends in a roast. Not an extreme sport version, off road, where I fear for my life. Wish me luck!

Our comic book town was on the telly! What an exciting and inspiring experience for our friends at Greengate Juniors 🩷📚

Yeah so I was just on The One Show! Got to visit a brilliant school in Barrow and talk about the amazing LICAF-led Comic Town initiative there, and how great comics are for getting kids reading (and writing and drawing!). It’s on iPlayer here: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

No one would be tracking the speaker if the blinds were left open in our classrooms. That makes a trip to the staffroom to watch the diggers by far the most popular reward at school right now.

A Year in Willerby. 12 stories from a haunted village. Ghosts, timeslips, shapeshifters and a call centre connecting the living from the dead. Limited edition and only 30 copies remaining. Sent from the village individually numbered with a handwritten postcard. www.etsy.com/uk/listing/4...

Today I managed to attend a really great training session, in a city, without incident. Only to then have a very unfortunate auto correct situation via WhatsApp, with another headteacher, whilst on the train home.

Can’t sleep. My confidence has strict geographical boundaries. After school tomorrow I’m heading to Birmingham for training on Thursday. Confident and secure at home but the second I leave my town absolute fish out of water.

There are lots of views about how to improve our education system. Not enough of them focus on the classroom. We pursue big structural solutions, when we should be looking at how to create calm, quiet, peaceful classrooms. New post, please share! carouselteachlearnlead.substack.com/p/calm-quiet...
