The tabloids were obsessed at the time with how amazing it was that Kylie was still able to have pop hits at the grand age of 32 (two years younger than Charli XCX is now) #totp

Nobody remembers the Girl Thing push now but it was enormous. TV ads for this single four weeks before release, two page broadsheet pieces, famously pre-recorded their celebratory message for a completely expected number one. #totp

I remember being in a record shop the day this came out next to two girls looking at the singles and one saying to the other "just a Spice Girls ripoff". I knew right then they were doomed. #totp

Shame this isn't being shown in two weeks' time, the Last Night I Missed All The Fireworks gags would have written themselves. #totp

Bruce Forsyth's "personal" entreaty to TV Times readers to watch the launch of his Big Night in October 1978 is still quite the read. Full marks to the writer for capturing Brucie's enduring fondness for shakily-confident references to what he thinks is the current big thing.

The lost world of entertainment has never been so well found, and then quickly thrown back into landfill.

🚨NEW EPISODE!🚨 ❓Which comedy star was slumming it with the Black & White Minstrels? ❓Who was the third Faith Brown? ❓What's Norman Collier doing to that donkey? ❓Did Colin Crompton meet Anthony H Wilson? You'll find answers to all these here at the end of Summer Season '76: youtu.be/HLEaWeScIAI

Really odd how this was completely forgotten when Sia returned to the charts fourteen years later. Even with Robyn it's always implied that this was that girl from the late 90s with a hefty second wind. #totp

If I had a nickel for every half-arsed post-All Saints girl group who appeared on #totp in May 2000 with a song with 'Water' in the title etc.

If you count any one of Bungle's three operators it's down to eleven now (current status of Little Neepsie, Chris and Do unknown) We Didn't Start The Fire is on four, Reasons To Be Cheerful (Part 3) two, The Intro And The Outro five, John Kettley Is A Weatherman fifteen, Endless Art zero.

Jeffrey Archer’s death narrows the competition to be the last surviving real person mentioned in “Hello” youtu.be/l3F2z4UPwQI?...

Tommy Cannon, Little Nell, Salman Rushdie, Kym Mazelle, Pam Dawber (Mindy), Paris Grey, John McArdle (Billy Corkhill), Vince Hilaire, Steve (Waddington, the other permanent member of The Beloved), Diana Ross ("Mary Wilson, Di and Flo"), Bungle..

So this is Noel taking the piss out of the children that contribute to a regular feature on his own show and getting his own obsession in in the process. Why did we not see the last 25 years coming? #SwapShop

A group of small tone-deaf children dressed like the Jam making 1975 pub rock. What could possibly have OH FUCK NOT THIS BIT. #SwapShop

Admirable how they're having to slow down a 37 second Rubik's Cube this far because of how quick it is when the current world record is 2.76 seconds. #SwapShop

A couple of years ago there was a spate of musicians playing one of the big Scottish venues on IG Stories pointing to a backstage poster that read "Beverley Knight plus Rhianna", clearly assuming it was a hilarious misprint.

Oh Baby by Rhianna. No, not Rihanna. Rhianna. It was a proper hit, but like a lot of early 2000s songs and artists who came and went between the decline of physical media and the rise of streaming, it seems to have fallen into a sort of digital void... timworthington.org/2021/11/09/l...

According to her Wiki bio she later formed half of a duo called Little Fix. Is fate following her around? Was she more recently been demoing under the name Chapel Rain?
