Someone on threads asked about giving out rubber ducks on Halloween & said a friend told her kids would hate it. Here’s my response: There are lot of kids who cannot eat candy for a wide range of reasons including poor swallow function, ketogenic diets for seizure management & G-tube dependency.

Bonus: Consider not having flashing lights on your decorations as they can trigger seizures for photosensitive trick-or-treaters. Consider putting low tech symbols for Halloween or ASL on your gate or door to let people know that they can communicate with you.

Give out the toys. In fact, mix the toys and candy in the same bowl so kids have a choice. ($1 bill was courtesy of a older coming out the liquor store with singles to give to the trick-or-treaters.)

One year, a house in Harlem gave out ramen & candy. The way those kids cleared the ramen OUT! Also, you never know when families are food insecure. ($1 was courtesy of an elder coming out the liquor store with singles for the trick-or-treaters.)

The last 24 hours I was affirmed on why Black sex work spaces are necessary. The violent weaponized kindness & performance expectations placed on Black people when experiencing harm has pissed me off to the point where I simply cannot.

Okay so, I’ve been off BlackSky for a minute. While I love that BlueSky is sex work friendly, I really need y’all to put labels on your content. If for no other reason that Age Verification laws now allow people in some states to sue creators for not doing their due diligence.

And that some states allow suing someone for sending unsolicited content. And because some folks are scrolling their phones when they don’t have privacy or expect to see butthole, peen & cum waterfalling out of holes at noon. Like, come on bro. The tools are RIGHT THERE.

I realize folks are looking for a Twitter alt to advertise, but we WILL lose this platform too if ya’ll don’t tighten it up. Also, BlueSky established a community “rule” posting spicy content after hours. Please consider scheduling your spicy content & posting non-hardcore media during the day.

Last night Art grabbed my hand, pointed in the direction of my phone and ordered me to take a pic of his newest artwork. His non-verbal communication is bossy as hell. His skills are even better.

Hiiiiii!!! So, I posted this on Threads but am adding this here because y’all are my people. I’m traveling to St. Louis this week to speak at a @atbw.bsky.social symposium about my archival work. What are the food, art & music recommendations I need to know about? 👀

How exciting is it to find these pageant photos from the (now closed) Deuville Hotel in Miami in the Jean Stevens Archive. I’m looking forward to discovering more about which pageant this was & who these women are/were. If you have any insight on who might hold the records for the hotel lmk!

Coding has become more complicated since platforms started integrating AI into everything. These tools interfere with code and make it more taxing to fix. I was up until after 5 am working on Jotform conditions that should have taken a couple of hours to set up.

I absolutely LOVE this. Christian Bale spent roughly 17 years fighting to make this happen. This week, his foster-care village opened in Palmdale, California: 12 homes built specifically to help keep siblings together when they enter foster care.

I bought 2 vintage porcelain paintings from an estate sale a few years ago. Today, I turned this broken frame into a cork board for Art’s medication station. I’m so happy with how it turned out. I need to replace the wire on the other one so it doesn’t fall & break, too. But, how cute is this?!
