SIPTU has a clear message for public servants scheduled to work from home on Wednesday. Don't do it. Don't open your laptop. Don't check your emails. Don't teach online. Don't answer your phone. A strike only works when the work stops. Remote work is work. #UnionStrike

#OTD in 1913 – ITGWU leader Jim Larkin attempts to address crowd on Sackville (O'Connell) Street. Dublin Metropolitan Police and the Royal Irish Constabulary baton charge the crowd and cause between 400 and 600 injuries. This outrage became known as Bloody Sunday.

The moment anyone tells you you shouldn’t join a union, urgently look around for a union to join.

BREAKING: On 1 July, cleaners and security guards will hold a rally for pro-worker procurement rules in Dublin organised by UNI Europa & @siptu.bsky.social. The same day, Ireland will take over the Presidency of the EU Council. A simultaneous rally will take place in Paris.

Support your Ambulance worker! Striking today from Wexford to Donegal for fair pay and proper resources for the communities they serve.

The Government COULD have put together an innovative and progressive package of direct supports. It COULD have regulated prices and profit margins in the energy sector. INSTEAD, they opted for regressive tax cuts and subsidies to employers. Workers abandoned AGAIN by the Government

The Easter Rising of 1916 would not have happened without our Union. By the Spring of 1916, the ITGWU headquarters in Liberty Hall had become a bastion of opposition to British rule. The banner on the building since late 1914 stated that; ‘We Serve Neither King Not Kaiser But Ireland’.

The cause of labour is the cause of Ireland, the cause of Ireland is the cause of labour. 📸 General Secretary John King with @labour.ie leader Ivana Bacik, Senator Laura Harmon and Corrinne Hasson (NWC) at State Commemoration in Dublin today.

SIPTU ambulance workers’ survey reveals lack of confidence in HSE to address welfare issues The results of SIPTU’s survey illustrate the mood of NAS members, where morale seems to be at an all-time low, and our members feel their voices are being unheard by senior management of the HSE.

“There simply are not enough Advanced Paramedics on the road responding to 999 calls to meet the demand,” Tim said. This is just one of the concerns that our members in the National Ambulance Service (NAS) are currently facing.

Workers cannot be expected to carry the burden of this crisis SIPTU General Secretary, John King, has warned that the added cost-of-living increase will mean additional pressure for wage increases in negotiations with employers across the public and private sectors. www.siptu.ie/siptu-genera...

Congratulations to the Head of our Legal Rights Unit Rachael Ryan on her recent appointment to the Board of the Workplace Relations Commission. Rachael plays a leading role in advancing workers’ rights and shaping national policy on employment protections.

❝ We live in a digital age of misinformation. Never has Public Service Broadcasting been more critical to a functioning and informed democracy than now. We do not believe downsizing RTE and outsourcing work is the way forward. 🔗 siptu.ie/unionisepodcast

Irish Equity, which represents performers and creative workers across Ireland, hailed Jessie Buckley’s historic Oscar win, which will act as an inspiration to a new generation of Irish performers.

Our General Secretary John King has joined leading political, trade union, academic and other voices in calling for an end to siege on Cuba 🇨🇺

“The reality is, without workers, there is no economy. Without solidarity, there is no fairness. And without strong labour rights, there is no real democracy in the workplace.” - SIPTU Deputy General Secretary, Ethel Buckley

The message to Commissioner Michael McGrath is loud and clear! He MUST protect the jobs, rights and living standards of the people in Ireland, not create a system that lets big corporations drive them down. 📸 SIPTU members and activists at ICTU/ETUC rally in Cork

A proper media ownership mix is crucial for the culture and future of any society. It is time for RTÉ management to park its outsourcing agenda, which destroys jobs and the future of this vital public service.

SIPTU members are urging the HSE’s National Ambulance Service to reverse its decision not to offer student paramedics full-time contracts following graduation, breaking with what had previously been common practice.

We believe the Irish people want the FAI to do the right thing here. It must stand by its own words and respect the safety of those it has a duty of care towards. This necessitates it reconsidering its position in relation to fulfilling these fixtures. More here: www.siptu.ie/siptu-fai-me...

If employment is a good indicator of economic health, we might be getting a bit under the weather. The private sector generated no new net jobs in the last year and overall job growth is falling towards zero. We need to debate how to maintain job growth. tinyurl.com/6dap783e

Larkin insisted that workers must not see themselves as isolated individuals, but rather part of a collective force, as he put it. “An injury to one is the concern of all” Thank you to all who came to our Larkin Commemoration this afternoon and big thanks to all the staff in Glasnevin.

An unacceptable slap in the face by Government to thousands of dedicated frontline public service workers. Union members from Dublin Fire Brigade, An Garda Síochána, the Prison Service and the Defence Forces come together to Secure our Future!
