Today was an Egyptian meloukhia (Jews mallow) kind of day. I cook the chicken to make the broth and use that to mix in the frozen meloukhia to make that wonderful green soup. Served with the cooked chicken and a quick onion lemon relish, over jasmine rice.

#FamilyDinnerSeptember2026 Not so sure if this qualifies, my mom was a stay at home mom, so we always had a meal ready when we come back home. This dish however, is a labor of love and I learned it from my mom…chicken and lamb meatballs biryani, not quite Indian, with a curry sauce and raita….

Dinner tonight, Pazanella with heirloom tomatoes, Persian cucumbers, red onions and dried ciabatta bread…in a lemon balsamic vinaigrette and I mix in the tomato juice from all the lovely tomatoes….

I’ve always seen that Costco sells whole picanha, aka sirloin cap, never seen it…finally today! They come two roasts per pack at a great price, $8.99/lb! Also today, Dungeness crab! That I don’t need a mortgage to buy! Stay tuned for the cooked versions of both….
