Calling all Saskies! AI data centres spread without adequate regulation in Canada. To build on our Treaty land, "they" must do it right or not at all. Cooperation between all levels of governance, proper regulatory systems and community benefits, or NO.

"AI is coming...and we had better be ready for it. But—as we explore in the October 2026 Monitor magazine—this discourse masks the fact that AI... is the result of a series of policy choices. Despite the government evoking...we do have a choice. And we should be serious about what that choice is."

Erin Brockovich Data Center Reporting received ~4,000 submissions in first month. She sits down with Jon to discuss everything she’s learned, what the industry gets wrong about the backlash, and whether there’s a way to build what we need without screwing over the people who have to live with it.

In #SK Scott Moe is bankrupting us to revitalize COAL production and allowing a new gas power plant (to be built adjacent to Regina, a migratory bird sanctuary, post secondary campuses, and a golf course) for a data centre. And he is pushing a nuclear future while actively suppressing renewables.

#Alberta isn't the only jurisdiction facing growing electricity demand. Wisconsin, Ontario and Texas are already using tools like smart thermostats, energy efficiency programs and rooftop solar to reduce energy use and manage peak demand.⚡ This is #DemandSideManagement in action ⬇️ #abpoli

The propaganda continues.

I'm reading the "environmentalists are wrong about data centers" piece from the NYT and ohmygoditssofuckingbad. Apparently, so long as you're punching left, they'll just let you say any goddamn thing you please... www.nytimes.com/2026/07/25/o...

"The 466MW Black Bear Power Project (BBPP) close to Swan Hills northwest of Edmonton has received little media coverage. This is surprising given it has changed proponents, quietly abandoned previous carbon capture and storage commitments, and would potentially add one million tonnes" annually ..

DeSmog@desmog.com

‼️ NEW: Little known U.S. developer Teton Digital is pushing an AI project in Alberta that could release one million tonnes of annual emissions.

Data centres are not sustainable over the short or long term. Absolutely wrong to not use latest green technologies to power these billion $ centres. We can't power the future with last centuries energy source. #climateactionnow #noMoecoal #renewables #noeconomyonadeadplanet

Danielle Smith has misled Albertan's on the new AI center's electricity use... She's talked a lot about minimal water use as well... But what happens when we look at the water use of the dedicated power plant? It could have a much bigger impact than she says. #abpoli
