Shoot 4, here we go… JOB done for Johan Olav Botn 5/5 And guess who shot clean and is only 3 seconds down? PONSI!!!! Martin Ponsiluoma being ridiculous!!! We have a ski (skate) race!!

In case you can’t tell, I am super excited that biathlon is back (even if I prefer skis/snow to skates/tarmac)… The ebb and flow of racing has been fantastic. No idea who’s going to win this one!

The leaders are re-gathering in the lap, we have a group of about 10 coming in for shoot 3… Let’s see… Oh wow it’s Botn! From nowhere, Botn is leading and flying up the hill with Laegreid and Perrot now on the chase…

Shoot 2 and it’s Strelow, Frey, Perrot, Laegreid, plus Horn and Emilien Claude shooting 5/5 (Horn and Claude both missed in their first shoot but have slide back into it. Claude may have messed up lane assignment on Shoot 1 though…)

A relatively gentle start to the race, everyone still together though stretched on the narrow paths… Scott Dixon reflecting in commentary that racing is more predictable without a certain Monsiuer Jacquelin…

Time for the Loop One Men’s Super Sprint. Nawrath and Horn 🇩🇪 enjoying the welcome from the home crowd, Ponsi the fastest qualifier, a lot of Norwegians lurking, and just the one Emilien 😢

Oceane Michelon takes the win, shooting 19/20 and looking super controlled. Elvira O holds off Anna Mag for 2nd. Janina Hettich-Walz in 4th. Oceane saying she tried to take her time and not let other people’s performance affect her. Heard the time gaps on the final lap which made her race a harder

Sports fans will recognise today’s biathlon venue, Olympiapark in Munich, as the home of the 1972 Olympics. Swifties will remember this… the amazing gathering on the hill, outside the concert arena, against a beautiful evening sky…

In for the second shoot and it’s a dramatic change of fortune for Lisa, who miss 3… Hettich-Walz and Anna Mag leading the way out, with Anna Andexer and Oceane Michelon a few second back. Elvira still in the mix.

Time for the Women’s Super Sprint from the Loop One biathlon event in Munich! 15 qualifiers with Elvira Oeberg the fastest… Elvira is already pushing the pace at the front so the pack is quite stretched out (the paths are narrow though, as in F1, track position is everything!)

Midway through this episode and it’s awesome (as always)! Erik is a very cool guy, with interesting stories to tell, and Jordan and RJ do a great job of giving him time and space to tell them! #biathlonready

Happy Cinnamon Bun Day to all who celebrate! 🇫🇮 🇸🇪

Nigella Lawson@nigella.bsky.social

It’s Korvapuustipäivä in Finland and Kanelsbullens Dag in Sweden, which is to say Cinnamon Bun Day! I happen to have a recipe for Swedish Cinnamon Buns, so of course it has to be #RecipeOfTheDay www.nigella.com/recipes/swed...

Biathlon World Cup season is just under two months away… and we have a rule change!!! Mass Start races have recently featured the Top 25 in the World Cup standings plus 5 best performers from the weekend programme. Now it’ll be Top 20 from the World Cup plus 10 weekend stars.

It’s a small change but it rewards people who have come into form maybe later in the season or after an injury. And it should mean more people getting the chance to go elbow-to-elbow in the Mass Start!

The not-that-surprising news has come through that Emilien Jacquelin won’t be competing in biathlon this winter, focusing instead on cycling. Totally understand his reasons, but I’m just gonna miss him…

Regular listeners will know that the digressions take up as much time as the sport in a Ski Shoot Repeat episode. Expect history, geography, myths and legends, recipes, seemingly random stories, philosophy, my attempts at science and a lot of mascot chat.

On the flipside, the season is fast approaching which means getting back into podcast mode!! I’ll have a pre World Cup episode which is usually a reminder of how biathlon works, before diving into the weekly episodes as the season starts.

Some biathlon / cycling crossover content, courtesy of @timbonvilleginn.bsky.social Emilien finding a new contentment 😀😀😀

Émilien Jacquelin 🇫🇷 is making is childhood dream come true and is potentially leaving the world of biathlon behind, for now! Plus Paul Wright 🇳🇿 potentially following in biathlete brother Campbell's footsteps and jumping to the US 🇺🇸... veloracycling.com/news/emilien...

From yesterday: our very own Emilien Jacquelin leading the peloton at the Tour du Limousin… So awesome to see him fulfilling a longstanding dream. Don’t get too hooked on it, Emilien - we want you back on the snow!!!

10/10 parenting. No notes.

Cycling/biathlon crossover isn't just happening with France with Emilien Jacquelin 🇫🇷 making his pro cycling debut. But also with the fans in biathlon crazy Czechia! Absolutely love this. www.instagram.com/reel/DcD3NLw...

Researching for future podcast episodes and I keep typing “sporks” instead of “sports”. This is what offseason training is for, people… (Either that or I’m starting a weird cutlery podcast on a few months…)
