It depends. One reason some people (like myself) mask their struggles from loved ones is that the "help" the loved ones offer might not be exactly... helpful. They may suggest doing basic things you've already tried, or tell you to just do the thing you're struggling with. ("It's not that hard!")

That kind of "support" can make someone withdraw and say "I'm fine" when they're not. The person might actually *want* help, but they don't feel confident that those they would reach out to would do anything more than exacerbate the stress they're already feeling. And so they just don't bother.

Moral of the story: yes, it's important that people reach out when they're struggling... but it's also important to realize why they might not, and to understand what actually helps and what does more harm than good. If they're reaching for a rope, make sure that rope is attached to something real.

Even if they clearly mean well, it can be hard to open up to someone who doesn't try to actually understand what you're going through, and those empty platitudes can often make a bad mental state worse... because the communication itself only adds to the frustration that already exists.

We're back in the Starship for a short mini-expedition that will take us on a counter-clockwise lap around the contiguous US. Our first leg takes us from home base in Texas along the Gulf Coast to Key West, Florida. Now boarding! twitch.tv/SkylarDarkfox

Okay, this will be our third attempt at leaving Reykjavik, and quite possibly the last for the indefinite future if MSFS crashes again. I have no other remedies if this driver reinstall doesn't fix it. So... let's try flying to Richmond. Now boarding! twitch.tv/SkylarDarkfox

Just because I couldn't make it to chase Isaias in real life doesn't mean I can't chase it in the sim. So that's what we're going to do. Since the sim crashed before we could get started last time, today we're doing Reykjavik to Pensacola. Now boarding! twitch.tv/SkylarDarkfox

Thanks to a CTD on arrival, we get our second redo of this journey. But hopefully I've resolved the issue now. Now boarding! twitch.tv/SkylarDarkfox

Leg 2 of the Meridional Round-the-World Flight, and today it's a red-eye from Accra to Cape Town. Along the way we'll be overflying "Null Island," a patch of ocean made famous as a default location for mapping software. (0°N 0°E). Now boarding! twitch.tv/SkylarDarkfox

Today is the last flight day for a week, since Stratosfur is coming up. But I've got an idea brewing for when we come back. But for now, we're headed back home from Sept-Îles after finishing the Great Lakes Tour, with a stop in Cleveland. Now boarding! twitch.tv/SkylarDarkfox

The third and final day of the Great Lakes Tour, and today we're taking off from Grosse Ile Municipal near Detroit to overfly the last two lakes in our itinerary (Erie and Ontario) and then continue to the end of the St. Lawrence River. Now boarding! twitch.tv/SkylarDarkfox

Now that we're set up at Bong Airport (heh heh) in Superior, WI, it's time to fly the Great Lakes. Today it'll be Superior and Michigan, with a stop in Sault Ste. Marie in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and then wrapping in Gary, IN. Now boarding! twitch.tv/SkylarDarkfox

And that's a wrap for the Four Rivers Tour. Four long river systems beginning-to-end, multiple canyons (including the Big Bend, the Grand Canyon and Hells Canyon), two coasts, and numerous famous landmarks along the way... all experienced at nearly surface level in the C400. Hell of a trip.

I'll be taking the next three days off to rest, do chores, and to do what I can't do on Twitch (namely: make some kind of barely livable income). Meanwhile, I'll be contemplating the next big adventure. I've got some ideas, but I'm open for suggestions.

Today's the finale of the Four Rivers Tour. We've flown up the Rio Grande and down the Colorado, skimmed the Pacific coast, followed the Columbia and Snake to Yellowstone, then cruised down the Missouri and Mississippi. We've just got a few more miles left to go as we take off from New Orleans.

Day 13 of the Four Rivers Tour, and we're nearly to the home stretch. Today we're taking off from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and flying down the Mississippi as far as we can get before dusk. Can we make it to New Orleans? Let's find out. Now boarding! twitch.tv/SkylarDarkfox
