Skywalker is a 3rd party Android app for Bluesky. 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 • Start your timeline where you last left • Bookmarks • Save drafts • Compose post threads • Wide media view • Photo/video gallery view • Swipe fullscreen media • Mute words • Focus words • Search options • Customisable colors • 𝘍𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘴

This feature is quick to implement. Famous last words, every time! This time it is the profile link buttons. Displaying them was straightforward, but editing them was more work than I was aiming for, but it's getting there.

You run into shit you never imagined.

QImageReader cannot read a .ico file from a sequential device, e.g. a network socket, as it needs to do a seek on an offset. How the hell should I have known that? The documentation says nothing about that. And how did Claude know this? Thank you, Claude.

Is this useful for you?

On your profile page new tabs are added where you can see: * on which lists you are * on which starter packs you are * who blocked you On any page a new tab is added that shows: * who verified that user

Probiert mal diese App (Skywalker) aus, falls ihr auf Android mit der original App rumhantiert, sie ist wirklich sehr gut!

Today is my 3 year Bluesky anniversary 🥳 I totally forgot about this feature, but it is still working! 3 years, what a ride it has been. I think the first release of Skywalker was 2 months after I created this account.

You can tap on the thread numbering label to unroll the thread. Though it may be easier to tap on the thread icon dosplayed in front of the first post of a thread.

Bluesky now provides numbering on posts in a thread. Skywalker displays these now. You may want to disable auto numbering in Skywalker on the post composition page as numbers inside the posts are not needed anymore. Skywalker tries to detect numbering inside posts. If it finds numbering it 🧵6/13

Note on switching AppViews: you can switch without the need to restart the app. Immediately after switching, requests will be sent to the new AppView.

In advanced setting you can change the AppView that is used. I have added preset options for Eurosky and Blacksky. By default the PDS will select an AppView (most likely Bluesky). The AppView creates what you see in the app from the raw data, e.g. your timeline, user profiles, etc. 🧵12/13

Note that some of your data is currently stored on the (Bluesky) AppView, e.g. bookmarks, draft posts, muted accounts. When you switch to another Appview you have no access to that data. When you switch back the data will still be there. 🧵13/13

language from the post text. The language tag is not always correct! In settings you can change to always infer the language from the text. This will not be 100% correct and may impact performance on a low end phone. 🧵10/13

To make it easier to translate a post a "translate" link is shown on posts that are not in your default posting language, so you can translate with a single click. The translate option is the menu is still there. In settings you can disable the "tranlate" link completely or disable it for 🧵8/13

some language, e.g. if your default language is Dutch but you fluently read English you may want to exclude English for showing the link to save screen space. Skywalker determines the language from a post from its associated language tag. If that tag is missing then it will infer the 🧵9/13

If you have been added to a starter pack, but you do not want to show up in that starter pack, then you can opt-out from that starter pack through the menu on that starter pack's page. 🧵5/13

* Faster upload for large videos * Improved video loop playing * Presets for Blacksky, Bluesky and Eurosky appviews * Increased number of trusted verifiers to 20 * Bug fixes 🧵2/13

I thought this would only be a little bit of work. Famous last words 😬 But I am getting there.

Skywalker@skywalker.thereforeiam.eu

There is one basic feature missing from Skywalker: adding and editing starter packs. Next release will have that.

#mu #ATProto #Eurosky #Skywalker #UI #UX #Tech #EULE #EULEde

Toying with the idea of dynamically switching appviews on upstream errors. (I guess it sometimes is a timeout or another error, so not a very reliable trigger) Als you lose access to data stored on the appview, like bookmarks, drafts and few other things.

This post is unavailable.

I see that the Bluesky app now automatically numbers posts in a thread in the view. I will implement that too in the next release. There would be no need for putting numbers in the posts themselves anymore when you write the thread.

Links to bsky.app outside Skywalker, e.g. on a page in your browser, could be opened in Skywalker instead of your browser. You can now also open mu.social links in Skywalker. If you want rhat you need to go to the Android settings of Skywalker and enable the links to open in Skywalker. 🧵3/3

There is an issue with Android 17 that cause excessive veritcal margins to be rendered around some emoji. This causes text layout to be messed up. I will get a fix for this in the next Skywalker release.

bei #Skywalker (beste App) hast du das ganze sogar in chic 😊 (Editier-Funktion hat sie auch)

Skywalker offers a rich set of features to compose threads. The plus-button lets you add a post to your thread. In the options menu is the options "auto number" numbers your posts 1/n, 2/n etc. The numbers are prefixed with the 🧵-symbol. You can change the prefix to your liking. 🧵1/4

Yes! Bsky links in posts should be intercepted automatically (famous last words) Bsky links elsewhere can be intercepted but you have to enable it in the Android settings of the app. Here is what those settings look like on my Samsung phone Credits to @nowrench.com for this feature.

Just when my vacation starts AT Proto spaces begins showing signs of life. I fear a steep learning curve when I get back.

The most significant extension to the protocol since launch—atproto spaces—is now officially alpha software you can start testing with. Here's more about the goals and how to start testing. atproto.com/blog/atproto...

Do you know that you can embed links in your text?

Skywalker@skywalker.thereforeiam.eu

You can add embedded links to your posts. 1. Type a URL of a web site in your post 2. Place the cursor anywhere in the URL 3. A link button will show up 4. Tap the button 5. Add a display text for the link 🧵2/5
