[on the assembly line] MUSK w/Fake Beard: Whatta way to make a living! LINE GUY: [indistinct sounds] MUSK: The big boss is like the coolest dude who's ever lived! LINE GUY: [slow look at camera] He's the best. For sure the coolest guy who ever lived. MUSK: IT'S ME! I will give you a Roadster!

I do not have any kind of love for the Atlanta Braves, but Ben Ingram is probably the best play-by-play person working today. The MLB At-Bat subscription is worth it for the ability to listen to Ben Ingram. Sounds like cigarettes, and the south, and maybe Falkner, or something. Dude is a legend!

(Mr. Ingram is 46 years old. I don't know if he has ever smoked cigarettes. His voice sounds like he is currently smoking many cigarettes. There's a resonance to his voice that friends of elderly smokers will recognize! ok.)

There are several record albums (I'm old) that feel like books I haven't finished yet, if you know what I mean. Ornette Coleman's "Dancing in Your Head". I know a lot of the turns from at least the first half of the Koln Concert, but good lord. OK! Sorry...

Nobody uses the phrase "oppo taco". Come on. Might try to pitch MLB on having me make their between-iinning slop next season. Let me know if you've got a guy over there! ok.

I am prepared to root for the Chicago White Sox for maybe the first time in my life. I don't want to get too deep into it, but I distinctly remember holding my head in my hands, saying it was a nightmare when they won the WS. This feels like hope for the future of humanity. Thank you.

It seems strange how much of 70s and 80s popular culture "rebels" were obsessed with breaking the speed limit on US Highways. Thank you. (Full disclosure - I can't drive 55, either - might be ticketed for going too slow! I'll be at the Big Rapids Airport later in the week...)

Dudes, what is going on over at LinkedIn these days? I keep getting automated emails about folks challenging me to some kind of "Wordle"-like puzzle game. (The last time I was on LinkedIn, I got into a fight with a retired judge from Tennesee in the comment section of the New Yorker. Thank you.)

P.S. I am certainly open to "opportunities" - let me know if you think I'd be a good fit for whatever it is you need done. I did not mean for that to sound sinister. Thank you.

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.

There are more pressing issues afoot, but I feel like we should fund the USPS to the hilt. Walking into a post office should be like walking into a futuristic Busby Berkeley fever dream of efficiency and class.

By the way, if you're in Chicago, the folks at the little Post Office on Montrose / Damen are like a ray of sunshine. I've never had a bad experience there - they are the least-angry USPS employees I've encountered in decades.

I went to see the movie "Weiner-Dog" with Mrs. King a few years ago. She dumped a half-empty tub of popcorn over my head when I laughed at a terrible thing that happened near the end of that movie. No spoilers!

Got me thinking.. What's the strongest reaction you've seen an audience member have to a scene in a cinema? During the birthday party scene in SIGNS I saw a whole row of young women literally throw their popcorn in the air like a cartoon.

I always love Milwaukee. It's like the "Canada of Chicago"! It's right up the road, it rules, the Milwaukee Art Museum is great, etc.! Finally tried The Vanguard, and good lord those are some great sausages. Hats off to the great city of Milwaukee, USA!

If you watch the PMRC hearings with John Denver, Zappa, and Dee Snider, it might occur to you that Al Gore is a world-class dummy! Still would have been better than GWB! #itsmytwocents #oldguytakes

Is there a baseball stat that takes into account hits (etc.) against a position player pitching for the opposing team because of a blow-out? I'm sure there is. (Totally unrelated to today's Cubs game)

I am not immune to the charms of the band Rush. They are not my favorite band, but I have enjoyed their thing over the years. The near universal approval and praise of Anika Nilles replacing N.P. on that ridiculous drum kit fills me with hope! She's killing it! The takes seem mostly good!

Many years ago, I saw a guy miss a bus while in my car, and offered to drive him to the next stop - he accepted! I'm not sure how many folks would accept that offer today. And to be totally honest, I'm not sure I'd make it.

This record has ruined my life. Sometimes my wife will ask me why I blasting "Circus Music" in the middle of the night. This is the most psychedelic record of all time. It is. I'm not sure why the real "heads" never hipped me to it. Please help...

Do any of you beautiful people have a good alternative to Substack for using as a newsletter / email platform? I switched to them from MailChimp, as it's currently free. I've got about 2000 newsletter subscribers. Looking for something either free or inexpensive (this is a low-budget operation).
