Sometimes I do graphic design stuff for telly and film. Other times I make spooky lino prints and things you can buy if you want... 📍Black Country (middle of the UK) https://linktr.ee/SlipperyJack

Ok but can I show you this 17th century Dutch memorial medallion and funeral spoon (everyone will receive one at my eventual funeral, don't you worry) I spotted yesterday at Bath's Holburne Museum...

Did I just hear correctly that someone brought the prop whistle from Whistle and I'll Come to You onto The Antiques Roadshow? And they claimed it would go for £100???

I see 'Aunt Judy who worked as a prop maker on TV productions in the 60s' was Judy Steele, Production Designer on Whistle and I'll Come to You, also worked on Play for Today, Armchair Thriller and 'The Exorcism' episode of Dead of Night 👌...

(Personally if I were programming a 'European Slaycation', I would've paired it with Spanish coach holiday nightmare A Candle for the Devil and French cycling holiday nightmare And Soon the Darkness, but Soavi's Stagefright and Edwige Fenech Giallo The Strange Vice of Mrs Wardh were fun enough..!)

Here’s the 4th and final lino print in my series inspired by the weird guys carved into church misericords. This one depicts Tutivillus, a demon tasked with eavesdropping on parishioners who engaged in secular gossip. Prints will be available tomorrow from 12 00 (GMT)..! 👁️ slipperyjack.bigcartel.com

Here's a 15th century carved depiction of Tutivillus (also Titivillus or Tytinillus) located at St. Mary the Virgin Church, Enville. The demon makes a record of the idle chatter to file in Hell, ready to be counted against them when they arrive...

The original misericord is one of my faves... bsky.app/profile/slip...

Around this time yesterday I stopped at St. Katharine’s Chapel in Limehouse to check out their 14th century misericords. Thankfully it was otherwise empty of visitors, I had to lie flat on my back and shimmy underneath a big chair to photograph the hidden demon and its brides in the fourth image...

Somehow it’s been five years since the release of our second album 𝕭𝖑𝖆𝖈𝖐 𝕳𝖆𝖗𝖛𝖊𝖘𝖙. Here are some (mostly unseen) shots from a cold and misty recording process at Giant Wafer Studios in deepest Wales during a lockdown. What songs from this album do you want to hear when we tour in December? 🌾 💀

Do I know any art historians specializing in 19th C. European art to help me out on a blu ray featurette? Or if you know one, want to forward this to them?

I watched The Secret Agent while I had 7 days of free Mubi. I did like it, though I found the wonky shapelessness and incongruous strangeness a little frustrating! Loved the third act mind, much better than the previous two, and Wagner Moura is a bonafide matinée idol, what a performance...

I did enjoy the period detail of The Omen ('A Profecia') newspaper advert, followed by the later sequence where it is screening at the local cinema, a 'possessed' woman staggering into the lobby, and a scream heard from the audience (presumably David Warner's head coming off), all good stuff..!

Good morning! Just jumping on to say you can now watch the entirety of 1980 anthology series Hammer House of Horror for free on ITVX. Go straight to 'The House that Bled to Death' and 'The Two Faces of Evil' 👌...

It would appear that it's 50 years to the day since Nigel Kneale's classic horror anthology series Beasts first aired on ITV, starting with 'Special Offer' on 16/10/76. If you've not seen it (surely you have), 'Baby' is a mini Folk Horror marvel, and 'During Barty's Party' another banger...

Finally! Very happy to see this appear in Criterion's January announcements as part of Volume 6 of Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Project, three years after I caught the restoration at the London Film Festival, excellent 👌...

Previously thought lost, now gloriously restored, I had a grand old time with Bahram Beyzaie's THE STRANGER AND THE FOG (1974) at LFF. Some kind of arcane Folk Western, packed full of ritual. Shades of Żuławski, Jodorowsky and Kurosawa (the wild rain-drenched third act in particular). Loved it..!

Chippy tea. It's a shame the rest of the country has to make do with *perfectly fine* pallid chips whereas here in the Black Country we get golden *battered chips* as standard ✨...

Stopped by the Jackfield Tile Museum (newly under the care of the National Trust) on a trip to Ironbridge. Big fan of this representation of the four seasons by John Piper. No one seems to know which season is which. I like the Green Man vibe...
