I'd love to hear from you if you have tried Smaragd. All feedback is appreciated. Especially negative feedback. If you dragged the app into the trashbin after 3 minutes, please tell me why.

Smaragd v1.6.0 — open-source Scrivener/Obsidian-style writing app. New in this release: multi-tab editor, LaTeX export, Undo Last Rename/Move, Daily Notes and more. github.com/ljantzen/sma...

I consider Smaragd, my editor program for authors now pretty feature complete. Work will now focus on polishing the existing features with regard to presentation and usability. It should be fairly usable as it is now. Any and all feedback will be appreciated. ljantzen.github.io/smaragd/

ljantzen.github.ioSmaragd — a native desktop authoring tool for writersSmaragd is a native, Electron-free desktop authoring tool for writers, built in Rust with egui. Plain markdown files, a fully dockable workspace, Scrivener-style structure, and real typeset DOCX/EPUB/...

If you like, you can now try out Smaragd in your browser. This is an experimental feature, and some features are not available. There is no way to work in the browser on a project you have locally on disk. Everything is stored in a browser innodb database. ljantzen.github.io/smaragd/app/

ljantzen.github.ioSmaragd — browser editionSmaragd's browser edition: the same binder, editor, and export tools, running entirely client-side with your project stored in the browser.

I get a sneaking feeling that adding more features will turn Smaragd into something like the car Homer Simpson designed. Probably going to cool down on new features for a while. If you have a burning desire for a new feature, drop me a line!

Smaragd 0.9.0 is available - Import from docx, epub, pdf or scrivx (experimental) - Automatic backups - A git integration toggle - A git-dirty Binder marker - All submenus are now keyboard-navigable: - Set a font for the app's chrome - A proper user manual

Have you taken Smaragd for a spin? I'd love to hear from you, especially if you are on a Mac or Windows box. Good or bad. Especially if bad. Also, if you have a .scrivx file you can share with me for testing the importer, that would be awesome!

Just pushed improvements to the collaboration feature. The host can now change the active file without the session terminating. And if the client attempt to change file, a prompt asks if it is ok to terminate the session. Plus a few other bits and pieces.

You are up to date.
