Coming out is a personal decision. It belongs to each of us, on our own terms and in our own time. No one should be forced out, and no one should be outed. Out to everyone, out to a few, or not out at all, you are valid and you are enough. #NationalComingOutDay #SMUG #Uganda

This Lesbian Visibility Day, we celebrate women who love women — we celebrate both the women who are still finding the courage to live openly and those who are already able to love and live freely and visibly. #LesbianVisibilityDay #WeAreHere #UgandaLGBTQ #SMUG

Happy Bisexual Visibility Day To every bi person who's been told to pick a side — you don't have to. You're not "half gay." You're whole, exactly as you are. Today and every day: we see you, we love you, you are valid. #BiVisibilityDay #SMUG #SeenLovedValid

Happy Pride Month ❤️🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ This week, we asked members of our community what queer joy looks like in their lives and why celebrating it matters. Here’s what they had to say. Queer joy for me is the inclusion, not just the tolerance of the beauty, wounds and imperfection of the ecology of queerness.

This week, we asked members of our community what queer joy looks like in their lives and why celebrating it matters. Here’s what they had to say. Queer Joy to me as a Trans Man who has experienced immense persecution from both family and the rest of society means, resilience, self-acceptance

Happy Pride Month ❤️🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ This week, we asked members of our community what queer joy looks like in their lives and why celebrating it matters. Here’s what they had to say. Our stories are often told for us through a prejudiced lens. It’s important that we celebrate and tell stories.

Happy Pride Month ❤️🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ As a gay man webbed in patriarchy, queer Joy for me is simply accepting myself to love regardless of the fetters the world around me places upon how to love.

Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈🌈🏳️‍⚧️❤️❤️ We asked; What does Pride mean to you as an LGBTQ+ person living in Uganda, and how has that meaning been shaped by your experiences. “Pride is not noise. It is knowing who you are and refusing to shrink.” Monalisa Akintole

Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈🌈🏳️‍⚧️ After being outed, I learnt how quickly acceptance can disappear. But also I learned how powerful community, resilience, and self-love can be. Pride is a reminder that despite every attempt to silence us, we are still here, still worthy and still dreaming of a better future.

Happy pride month 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🌈🌈❤️ So for each room we step in, each petition we sign, each workshop we attend, each policy and research we contribute to; each chosen family gathering we attend and above all for simply existing in love and kindness- we present the fact that we Exist, we Belong

Happy Pride Month🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🌈🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Pride to me means family, resilience, happiness, and hope for a better future. As a trans person living in Uganda, Pride is not only a celebration of who we are but also a reminder of our strength in the face of challenges. #happypridemonth

PRIDE IN OUR WORDS Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing reflections and stories of Pride, Joy, Resilience, finding community and belonging, and imagining the future for LGBTQ+ persons in Uganda. #pridemonth 🏳️‍🌈🌈🏳️‍🌈🌈

High Court affirms legal recognition of transgender Kenyans, directs state action to protect their rights. This is what democracy looks like in action, with Kenya taking meaningful steps toward recognizing and protecting transgender people

UPDATE: Wendy and Diana have now been granted bail. Their “crime” was simply kissing in public. We hope the charges against them will be dropped. The fight for their justice and protection continues. 🏳️‍🌈 #StandWithWendyAndDiana #HumanRights

Today, on Transgender Day of Visibility, we celebrate the courage it takes to live openly, the joy of self-definition, and the power of simply being seen. #TransDayOfVisibility #TDOV #TransRightsAreHumanRights

The hearing of the Anti-Homosexuality Act appeal that was scheduled for 31st March 2026 has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. We will share updates as soon as the court announces the rescheduled date.

Today we celebrate the achievements, dreams, and unstoppable spirit of women everywhere. We honor women of all cultures and backgrounds — including trans women, lesbians, and queer women — and recognize the voices of non-binary people who enrich and strengthen our communities.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Joan, Founder and Executive Director of the Rella Women’s Foundation, who passed away yesterday in a tragic accident. She will be greatly missed, and we are grateful for the incredible work she did in support of LBQ women.

David Kato’s legacy lives in every act of courage that insists on dignity, safety, and truth. As we remember him, we recommit to building a future where every LGBTQ+ person can live openly, safely, and without fear. The work continues — and so does his light. #DKKMemorialDay

As David Kato Memorial Week begins, we honour a fearless advocate who fought relentlessly for LGBTQ+ visibility and dignity. Though he's no longer with us, his courage, his voice, and his legacy continue to guide and inspire our work. We remember. We celebrate. We carry it forward #DKK #MemorialWeek

🧡 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence From November 25 to December 10, we stand in solidarity to end violence against women, girls, and gender-diverse people. We also stand with everyone facing digital harm. Your safety matters—online and offline. 🧡 #16Days #EndGBV #Queer

This year’s theme, “Access to services – mental health in catastrophes and emergencies,” reminds us that mental health care is a right, not a privilege. To all LGBTQ+ community members navigating mental distress from discrimination to economic hardship and violence. You are not alone. 💚

Burkina Faso’s Parliament passed a law on 2nd September 2025, first approved by President Ibrahim Traoré in July 2024. Offenders now face 2–5 years in prison and fines for “promoting homosexuality.” We stand in solidarity with queer people in Burkina Faso.

Happy International Non-Binary People’s Day 💜💜 A day to affirm, celebrate and uplift those living beyond the gender binary.. “To all non-binary people in Uganda — you are not alone. You are loved. You are powerful. You belong.”

Great News! UN renews crucial human rights expert mandate on sexual orientation and gender identity. The Independent Expert on protection against violence and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) will now be able to continue the work for three more years.

Why celebrating pride is important. Pride is awareness, Pride is resilience, it's simply expressing and existing together as a community. It's solidarity for many people who can't celebrate or march. Pride means refusing to be erased and choosing to simply be who you are. #pridemonth #Igbtq #pride
