idk if im just crazy but i really did NOT like forgotten island, like really hated it on the surface none of the filipino words were pronounced right, and the constantly used "tayo na" throughout isn't even how you use the phrase a movie set in the ph but it felt so colonized?? it's wild (thread)

View full thread

the characters have to explain what is going on every five seconds and doesn't give any room to breathe to any scene idk if that's just modern storytelling for movies but the emotional beats didn't land to me bec the buildup was just not there, like just a checklist or outline of plot points

ok thats the last you'll hear from me re: forgotten isand bec it legit confuses me that it's somehow getting extremely high ratings

there is straight up a scene where they go to "kakayba" market and god it frustrates me that the mispronunciation is actually to the movie's detriment, it's KA KA I BA the tiyanak called "BUNJEE" when he's clearly BUNGI bec he's missing teeth ugh also BANANA LUMPIA?? nobody calls turon that here

i think the movie wants the aesthetic of living in the philippines but doesn't really capture it in the story like, did they not consult with someone living /here/ for the script?? but even with all that i don't think fixing that would fix how much i disliked the way the story was told

19 Sept

saying this as someone whose favorite faction is the Ursus students and whose fave event is Children of Ursus but i didn't really like People, A People i felt the revolution messaging was heavy handed and was constantly spelled out, esp after just reading chapter 16, it felt a bit... shallow (?)

19 Sept

i didn't really like how zima, istina, and rosa basically grew up in the background, i would've wanted to see them grow together as a team too zima specifically felt like a completely diff character tho one thing I really did like is how much the story does for Zoya, Lyudmila, and Gummy

18 Sept

my most lukewarm game design take is probs that balance and numbers are often overrated

17 Sept

<some arknights ch16 spoilers> caught up with ch 16 and gODDDD the yearning and surrendering to the idea of a messiah, the very human right to choose, and the sparks and weight of revolution, the themes are so GOOD also mantra my beloved

17 Sept

the horror in this story is lovely, one of my favorite villains too i really like how everything falls into place

17 Sept

i wish i could use bsky more but also half of the time it does not load and straight up does not work for me :((

spe!!! 😭

26 June

i love how spe's arc in-game is a refinement of how season 1's story originally played out it has a clearer focus on spe's reason for running, and it does a much better job at making spe the character that carries everyone's dreams (+ power of friendship) she IS everyone, she IS John Umamusume

25 June

Happy Pride month! Designed this pride-colored/themed poster for our upcoming Netrunner GNK (held at six-seven) in the lead up to our Megacity Championships! <3 @netrunner.nullsignal.games

we saw the first few eps of witch hat atelier and i feel so Paternal i love the approach to coco as both a student coming from a Different background and as a grieving child, where things take a while to sink in for her there's an adhd-ness to her that i really relate to

it makes her relationships with the other characters really shine qifrey as a character is so interesting as both teacher (read: father of four) and Mysterious Guy i especially like the friction between her and agott bec god knows how many times i've been in coco's position HAHA
