In 2024, I really did have a lot of hope that we would see any kind of immune response to *waves hands* all of this. But the saddest thing is the reveal that there really is no limit. It goes beyond one horrible, monstrous man and his endless hunger for exploitation and insult.

Tron, the character, always meant the fight against power. He stood for the people and not the system. In Tron: Legacy, in the 2000s, he was a warning that our rebellion had been subsumed by the system. By Aries (2025,) the concept was so alien he wasn't so much as mentioned in the movie.

Tron: Legacy portrays both Corportate Flynn and Clu, in matched shots, as Hitler. Tron has always been based. It's why Ares failed. It forgot what Tron was so badly it didn't even include the fucking character.

The ending of the Original Tron is where the sin begins: Flynn and his friends foolishly believe that by taking power in the corporate world, they'll change things. It isn't subtext that they didn't. Two sequels are predicated on this very concept.

Everybody's debating the thing and not one person on my timeline is naming who did it this time, so who the fuck did it this time and why are we not all loudly using their name if this is what they did?

The title of today's Penny Arcade is a reference to a relevant Yeats quote and that's the most Tycho Brahe shit I've ever seen. And this includes that time I literally saw Tycho Brahe, and let he and his wife into a movie for free.

Okay, AEW. I guess you spent a year-and-a-half slowly and interestingly building the solution to this problem, so, well done. You moved to more appropriate venues, your writing got better, and I can sort of count on the things I see mattering. Well done.

Well, AEW, I hope your best wrestler returning to an indy-level reaction in what appeared to be a mostly-empty arena is enough to wake you all up to the fact that it's really hard to love your product right now.

When I found out King of the Hill was coming back, my first words were "I really don't want to hear what Mike Judge will have to say about trans people." They did that episode, framed around a hen-turned-rooster. It wasn't perfect, but it was fine.

Every argument about how to regulate speech on the Internet has boiled down to a contention about which kind of powerful guy most deserves to enjoy consolidated agency to meticulously prune the private epistemologies of people who otherwise have no right to exist as anything other than his tools

Why have you been on my mind lately? Well, it ain't to get you back. I call you Drugs, with a capital D. That's been your nickname for the last eight years. You were an addiction. No, it's more because this country has decided that we should be denied rights, and is taking action to make that so.

So, I want you to know that while I don't obsess about you, you weren't a footnote either. You were a REALLY important part of my story. I don't get here without you, and I'll never not be thankful. And when we met, singing to you made you feel special in a way you hadn't in some time. So... yeah.

You take up an appropriate amount of space in my head, really. Which is to say, not much. But... 'bout twice a year, I think about how you check in on your exes online sometimes, and I remember that I can send you messages you'll get in a few months. And I never, ever do anything with that...

It actually makes a lot of sense how William Shatner turned out when you remember he was a white guy who thought he was the only one who mattered in a 60s progressive powerhouse boldly breaking ground on race and gender.

It took far too much adversity, including my wheelchair repeatedly tipping over when the bus turned, but after nearly six hours of travel, there is now a Ciabatta in my lap and a glass of wine in my hand and a transfem witch playing Bloodborne next to me.

Using Discord now, like Twitter before it, is like being on the Titanic just after the iceberg struck. You say "so, liferafts?" And everybody replies "nah. The ship is fine." And when the time comes, nobody's going to tolerate your I-told-you-so.
