so i wanted to have something similar to Fennel or Hy (keep the language semantics mostly the same?) yep, i fell into the rabbit hole of writing my very own LISP...

the solution was: run every S-expression in an AsyncFunction pass a callback to define a variable the callback gets called, it saves the identifier and value in a list the next AsyncFunction gets called with the new defined value as an extra param repeat for every S-expression

and it's not really done yet, but i was able to overcome the biggest challenge that was macros, cuz 'eval' in js kinda sucks you don't have much control of variable scoping, and await is illegal unless you wrap everything in an IIFE

i mostly do web work which is a problem since all ive got is ClojureScript and Squint (a Clojure-lite) like, they are cool but they feel too detached from the underlying JS, squint definitely less so tho

learning that astronauts have to use microsoft outlook in space is unspeakably depressing. we have set microsoft outlook free from the bounds of earth. polluting the stars with that janky piece of shit

niki grayson@nikigrayson.com

right now the astronauts are calling houston because the computer on the spaceship is running two instances of microsoft outlook and they can't figure out why. nasa is about to remote into the computer

nix is awesome but then you learn that dolphin from kde does 5000 fs syscalls on every launch just to dynamic libraries nix is awesome

nixos has some good ideas (software should be built in a reproducible and traceable manner) and an implementation that is atrocious top to bottom whose only real positive quality is that it exists. this is frustrating

oh wait there is a new tweet why what why didn't it show that hell yeah chapter 5 is coming straight from your house ‼️ bsky.app/profile/toby...

The professional testers are familiarizing themselves with the game now. They begin formally testing on April 1st. Japanese translation quality assurance is projected to be completed in April. Outside of addressing bugs and translation, most of the development team has moved on from Chapter 5.
