The people got a hint of a potential data center at our local fairgrounds and we showed up to say hell no. That board was not prepared for 100 people to show up to that meeting.

Dell Says Its New $699 Laptop Has Features 'You Won't Find on a MacBook Neo'

macrumors.comDell Says Its New $699 Laptop Has Features 'You Won't Find on a MacBook Neo'Dell this week introduced a new version of the XPS 13, a laptop that it said is "contending with the MacBook Neo on price, and exceeding it on features." In the U.S., the XPS 13 starts at $699 for the general public and at $599 for eligible students, which is $100 more than the MacBook Neo on both fronts. However, Dell said the XPS 13 offers the following six features "you won't find on a MacBook Neo." * A touch screen * A backlit keyboard * A faster second USB-C port (10 GB/s vs. 480 MB/s) * Wi-Fi 7 (vs. Wi-Fi 6E) * Windows Hello to unlock laptop via facial recognition (MacBook Neo does offer Touch ID at the same $699 price point) * Four speakers (vs. two) "Apple's MacBook Neo is a capable machine, and its arrival confirms that there's real appetite for premium quality at accessible prices," said Dell. "Where Dell differs is what we think premium means at this price point and what we were willing to build to deliver it." While not mentioned in Dell's list above, the XPS 13's display offers up to a 120Hz refresh rate and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, whereas the MacBook Neo has a 60Hz refresh rate and sRGB coverage only. And with a 13-inch display and a resolution of 2,560×1,600 pixels, the XPS 13 offers Retina-like quality. Like the MacBook Neo, the XPS 13 base model is equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage inside a thin aluminum enclosure. The base model is powered by Intel's new Core Series 3 processor, with higher-priced configurations offering Intel's Core Ultra Series 3 processors, up to 32GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. Apple silicon offers industry-leading performance per watt, allowing for the MacBook Neo with an A18 Pro chip to have a fanless design. In the XPS 13, there are two fans. Dell said the XPS 13 is the thinnest and lightest XPS laptop it has ever made. It measures 12.7mm thin, matching the MacBook Neo, but its advertised weight of 2.2 pounds comes in half a pound below the MacBook Neo. The XPS 13 base model with a Core Series 3 processor is arriving "soon" in the U.S., according to Dell. The laptop will come in two finishes, Sky and Storm, with the latter color not available until "later this summer." Windows vs. macOS remains an important factor, but increased competition is good for all customers, as it helps to lower prices across the board. "A few months ago at CES, we made a commitment: compete at every price point in the consumer market and build products worthy of the XPS name," said Dell. "Even though memory shortages have pushed component costs higher across virtually every industry, we are delivering on that commitment." Without the MacBook Neo, which was rumored since June 2025, we might not be in this situation.Related Roundup: MacBook NeoTags: Dell, WindowsBuyer's Guide: MacBook Neo (Buy Now)Related Forum: MacBook Neo This article, "Dell Says Its New $699 Laptop Has Features 'You Won't Find on a MacBook Neo'" first appeared on MacRumors.com Discuss this article in our forums

I completely skipped Queensbury Crypt and did the other two areas first. Now it’s very easy to get through. Which I am grateful for, because this game is punishing!

Highguard has been fun from the 10 or so matches I've played. There've been some tense matches, some great comebacks, and I get how the match flow works. I would hate for the game to not succeed because of the weird attention that it's gotten. Visual designs of the characters are not great though.

I really wanted to like Big Hops, but, at least the Switch version, has a lot of bugs that has ended up causing me to restart the game, by choice or otherwise. It’s plenty of fun, but I just lost a whole level’s worth of progress due to a game crash nearish to the end. I’ll wait for more updates.

I’m going to continue making an effort to play more games this year. I’ve played some great games pretty recently and have plenty more to catch up on.

Speaking of, it’s pretty annoying for me that Shinobi: Art of Vengeance has certain abilities kept in later stages, keeping some extra parts of stages locked away, making you have to replay them to get closer to 100%. I hate it.

Also I somehow bugged the map where it puts the player icon off to the side, making it difficult to keep track of where I am and where the secret areas are. Hopefully a reboot of the game fixes that. Despite all that, good game so far.

Skate Story is just so cool. The visuals, the music, the poetry, barreling down hallways and breaking into little glassy bits, it exudes cool. I already beat it but I want to experience it again!

I played this lights out, volume up, and there were times I had to stop because I was, I guess, overstimulated? Worth it. And the Switch 2 version in performance mode worked great. Some frame drop, but not a deal-breaker.

I enjoyed Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, though felt that there could’ve been more to it. It felt like playing Prime Remastered with better graphics, controls and a large bike area, which is great, but then also wanting to see more beyond (heh) just that.

Like I want to see what Retro Studios can with a Switch 2 Metroid and a not-rocky development, because I can see some of the things they were aiming for. Speaking of aiming, I got used to the mouse control with the help of a 3D printed Joy-Con mouse grip. That goes a long way to making it comfy.

*SPOILERS PLEASE LOOK AWAY* Also that ending, what the hell, haha! Why did they end it like that! I had to restart a part of the last fight because I couldn’t go through with something the game required you to do!

I wanted to get through Metroid Prime Remastered before Prime 4 comes out. Man that brought back some memories from….23 YEARS AGO!?

It’s funny that I didn’t get too far with either Hades 1 or Hollow Knight and its DLC, but I went all in with Silksong and Hades 2. I’m assuming it’s a difference in situation and headspace. Or having a big OLED TV and soundbar in my room to make it a bigger experience. Who’s to say?

Well I say I’m finished with Hades 2. There’s some stuff that I can do to get the final ending, but I’m happy to stop here. Great game.

I forgot to finish Kirby and the Forgotten Land, but the Switch 2 Edition made it a much better experience. Good game.

Ball x Pit really gets you locked into playing and suddenly hours pass by. I really like it and could see myself playing more to get more stuff unlocked, but there’s so many more games to play. Plus I can wait until the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition update releases before going back.

BY THE WAY If you've updated to Windows 11 recently, you're probably on version 25H2. There's a new setting in Settings: Privacy & Security. Scroll aaaaaaaalll the way to the bottom and you'll see "Text and Image Generation." TURN IT OFF.
