FRB20240304B is now the most distant FRB ever detected, bursting when the Universe was a young three billion years old.
MeerKAT detected it and localised it, then JWST followed up to identify the host galaxy.

Are millisecond Pulsars, nature's cosmic clocks, as stable as we once thought?
A new study by @rami.spaceaustralia.com has reported the discovery of two consecutive profile change events on PSR J0437-4715.

J0437 is the brightest and closest MSP to Earth.
Both events altered the same profile components in the same way and followed a similar evolution over time, exhibiting frequency dependence and affecting polarisations.

As part of a collaboration between PhD students, these observations were taken with Murriyang (CSIRO Parkes radio telescope) and verified with South Africa's MeerKAT.

Un système binaire compact d'étoiles dans lequel une naine blanche fortement magnétisée arrache de la matière à une étoile compagnon donne des indices sur la nature de certains "Long-Period Transient", de mystérieuses sources radio périodiques à longue période.

Forbidden black holes?! 👀
Check out this article about a really fun study led by PhD student Hui Tong 🤩
Looking at colliding black holes with gravitational waves, we are able to learn about the massive stars that formed them!

Without international partnerships Lunar travel would be much less safe or even feasible. Space research and exploration cannot be done alone.
We don't go alone for us, but together for all.

The CDSCC is not the only Aussie team that is working with the #ArtemisII mission - researchers from @scienceanu.bsky.social are also testing emerging technology that allows data to be transmitted via lasers, instead of radio waves at Mount Stromlo.

And for the first time, the first woman, the first person of colour and the first non-American will travel to lunar space.

Before a flyby can be properly considered, the #ESAJuice team need to improve knowledge of the moon's position. Stellar occultations are a great way to do that. The current occultation prediction is here:

Any Sydney-based astronomers here? A team at Andalucia is coordinating an occultation campaign for one of Jupiter's small (2-5km) irregular moons, #Kallichore (a candidate for an #ESAJuice flyby) that'll be passing in front of a star at ~12:20UT on March 18th.

On Thursday (02/25) at 5pm JST I'll chat with Nate Taylor (Australian Space Agency) about the JAXA Hayabusa2 mission 🛰️, and the challenge of outreach for tiny asteroid grains that might tell a story as big as Earth. 🔭 Will this go smoothly?
