For my trans cousins (for we ARE family, cis-ish as I may be, and cis as I must come to you): I wish to share knowledge from Pratchett's I Shall Wear Midnight. It is the story of a witch blamed for whatever ills befall those "in charge" and how she deals with that problem.

By which, I mean to say, their feelings are a ball of fantasy rolling downhill, gathering snow. So knock that snow out of it. Bring their feelings to reality. Make them see the real consequences of their actions.

Last but not least: allies where you find them. They are good at their own thing. So let them help. But keep them, and me, at a fair distance for now. Not to save them harm, but frankly, trust is earned by actions. "I've got to follow orders," is simply not good enough for trust.

In it you will find much humor, for that is his way, but first and firmly is his wisdom. You have done nothing wrong. Never shout it, like you've got something to hide. Just firmly, and truthfully remind everyone. Your existence is true and it harms no one. Make it their job for burden of proof.

Second, make them substantiate that proof on firmly fact. Kick out the feelings, the accusations. If they stand on the chair and scream at you, make sure that chair loses every leg that cannot stand. Logic isn't the answer here... it's showing that their feelings aren't real.

“Because she likes people,” said the witch, striding ahead. “She cares about ’em." I want to tell people about the soul and center of witching one day. The big long monolog that has you hanging on Pratchett's tongue. But tonight, this will do. It's multiple posts long, after all.

I could lack funds for days, weeks, maybe months... but they'll never kick me out. I'm their witch. What would happen if they ejected me? What would happen when they lacked food to eat, and people to look after the babies? This is how we fight. Be your witch. It all evens out in the end.

That's america... it's any place really... but the real America is that place where people remember the good you do... and they pay you back in kind... its not the rich models squeezing money from turnips and stone. It's honest people underpaid, and compensated in greater understanding.

You CARE. You are the witch. You never gather the money you don't need. And then you do the thing. The thing that charges you less than the going rate. The thing that knows you are it's witch. It might not be monetary. Fuck knows it isn't here in this world. But I'll never be kicked out...

My grandmother was a witch. She didn't know it... but she made her community remember good done without asking. They rented their plot for a song and anytime rent went up, theirs didn't. Like she was reminding people of good done... of good that needed doing.

You will watch until. There’s nothing left to stand for. You will watch. Until owning a gun means You were the bad person With a gun After all. And then, You’ll stop watching, Because when you’re dead, There’s not much to watch afterall.

How interesting the fights are, In the middle of Walmart. Couples squabble about dinner, And you watch. Two people just picked up a new game, And you watch. Did those two guys just kiss and laugh? And you watch. Your neighbor Is not a neighbor.

They’re your soap opera. They’re your entertainment. Their stories are yours to keep in your pocket. Pull out when your life is boring. And you watch. But you don’t do anything. You will watch, When a person is gunned down in your street.

Indiana Right Now Down the street, in negative degree weather A bar fight has started. They should have gone home, They can’t stay here. Three buildings down, A woman is screaming rape, But the walls are just thick enough, That it’s only a domestic dispute.

The men with their camo outfits, Which camouflage nothing against the steel grey streets, Are miles away, In the cold and the slush. And by god, they can’t come for you, You own a gun. It’s your right to own a gun.

I live in the magical world of southern Indiana. People are generally conservative here, but they don't want to deal with people, they just want to carry on and be left alone. Ironically, they also want to be all up in people's business, but just to watch... p 1/?

Get a big enough school monitor, and they'll fold immediately, especially if that school monitor has a really good glare. I'd like to imagine we are Lancre. Small country village with a couple witches who make the whole thing work. In reality, we are crazy town. But weirdly democratic about it.

I guess what I'm getting at here... I live in a land where the social contract is tissue paper. It's always been tissue paper, but highly worshiped and revered. The protests tell you to you can breath around. Who will let you rest. And most important, who will carry your burdens.

They want to watch, maybe judge a bit, but behind closed doors. Nobody asks what's going on in your bed, except to see if they can be invited. But people will pull your hair in a bar to try a get a rise out of you. Rights are stepped on in the same way the schoolyard bully does. Part 2/?

There was a time, very short, maybe a week or two, when Pope Francis considered excomunicating the entirety of US catholics for their backing of certain Republican efforts. There's an alternate universe out there where he followed through. What do you think that looks like?

I have a question about cancel culture. While we should expect everybody to do better, if you had to pick between the transphobe who owns half of the UK (Ms. Rowling) and the man who doesn't seem to know proper consent (Mr. Gaiman). Whose works do you keep? Neither is of course an option. Opinions?

Just heard that Musk is in favor of cutting funding to feed Canine Units... so this Republican person wants to hinder the war on drugs now too by litterally starving the dogs police use to do that? How very American of this immigrant.

One of my wonderful sisters is going through it. She's been through a lot in life and always had to work hard to survive. If you could be so kind as to share her link and if you could donate. We would love and appreciate it. gofund.me/052c80fc
