After 400 years of having a thumb on the scale, simply removing it doesn't make things right. The scale is warped. Irreparably. We need a new scale.

I'm blocking @mary1kathy.bsky.social and adding the account to my blocklists. Life is too short and the times are too serious to fuck around with disinformation and "A.i." bullshit. For accountability, here's the screenshot of the video they posted.

And since the baby blocked rather than respond, yes, telling someone that their protest vote was wrong instead of engaging with the reason they felt the need to protest is re-victimizing them. The initial victimizing was the disinterest of the party. Good job playing your part in furthering that.

The movement drags the party(sometimes kicking and screaming). Suffrage, environment, labor, civil rights, anti-Vietnam war. And when it fails to drag them, as with abolition, it can result in the creation of a new party and the death of the old one. So careful, Dems. We're watching you.

Man I am getting a completely different takeaway from this chart than everyone else. This is a sign that electoral politics isn’t really about policy or messaging, it’s about large groups of people reacting to events. People don’t hear arguments, they see things happening and change their stances.

Normally I wouldn't trust anything in the Daily Mail even with photographic evidence but they seem to be the only outlet reporting the removal of items from the Ross' home. I wonder if they were able to find his copy of the Turner Diaries. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...

dailymail.co.ukFeds in ski masks seen taking belongings from the ICE shooter's homeThe Daily Mail witnessed armed federal agents swarming the empty home of ICE shooter Jonathan Ross to retrieve his belongings, with some agents confronting reporters on the scene.

"I'm not mad at you" should be our "I bear my chest; shoot me!" The latter, said by Abu Sayed shortly before being shot, escalated a movement's conflict with a government whose leader was thought to be untouchable. Sheikh Hasina was deposed, fled the country, and sentenced to death in absentia.

Stray acorn perhaps? Has anyone seen that trigger happy Florida cop lately? He resigned in disgrace which is pretty extraordinary considering, you know, Florida. www.ktvu.com/news/shots-f...

After Minneapolis, now the ICE shooting on Christmas Eve in Maryland is getting some scrutiny from local police: “…county police confirmed The Banner’s reporting that the second person injured in the encounter was already in ICE custody, in one of the agency’s vehicles, when he was hurt.”

Replying and then limiting replies 😂 I guess he needs a victory like the Democratic party today. I'm just pointing out that even when something passes, again, UNANIMOUSLY nothing is guaranteed. And that seeing Ds dancing and celebrating just highlights how hopeless the party is.

You're going to have to share this one because the algorithm is going to suppress the hell out of it (content, language). Check out the One Nation Indivisible pod, the episode from late August, for more.

I know this "invasion" fearmongering goes back to at least that famous bigot pustule Pat Buchanan in the 90s but I still think there was a concerted effort(read: conspiracy) among right-wing circles to work that angle HARD. And I think the inspiration for this was my beloved(🤮) Texas.

Now Texas has been at the vanguard of a lot of horrible things about this country. Things like lost cause fetishization, segregation, religion in schools, "protecting" bathrooms and sports, gerrymandering, textbooks, and the like so it's probably not a huge shock that Texas was at the

For anyone else like me that thought it was Joseph Welch("have you no decency?") that led with Murrow following. It was the opposite. Murrow called him out in at least 3 episodes prior to Welch shaming him to his face. Welch: 6/9/54 Murrow: 10/20/53 thru 3/9/54

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

I'm old enough to remember when CBS News and journalists like Edward R. Murrow held power to account, instead of capitulating to it.

@pkrugman.bsky.social He doesn't deign to waste his time here but if he ever does maybe he would be kind enough to answer the following: What was the percentage of trade surplus to GDP post-WWII for the U.S.? How does that compare to present-day China's? I'll be over here not holding my breath 😂

If you don't attend protests out of an abundance of caution, there is probably no way to stay under the radar if you have a "normal" life. They have everything you've ever liked, posted, watched, un/followed, reviewed, blocked, un/friended, ordered, returned, GPSed, texted.

Tip I just learned myself--go to the big city if you can. I'd done the protests in my small town then for the last one drove the 90 minutes. Being in a procession of 90-100,000 people changes you at a fundamental level. Realigns your outlook. Cures doomerism. Do it at least once.

and how to limit their chants to the approved list. Not worth it! So just go. Leave your phone at home, take public transportation, have a little cash for an emergency, arrange a rendezvous point, wear good shoes, UPF+hat over sunscreen just in case, extra water, and most importantly relax.

If it's your first one find some hippies and introduce yourself. They've likely done it before and know how to stay safe. If at any point you ever feel uncomfortable you can always bail. You did the hard part and showed up. Next time will be better.

You're already on a list. There is no exposure-free way to attend a protest outside of hiring a homeless person or aspiring actor to go in your stead but then you have to worry about whether your John Brown shirt will fit them, or if they will carry your "FUCK P̸O̸L̸ICE" sign,

FBI seizes their server in a raid about a crime committed at a protest by one of the server admins? Yet no information about who the admin is/was or their booking or charges? No interview? No followups? Just an apology 6 weeks later? I'm not conspiracy-minded but what the actual fuck?

I always say I hope to live long enough to see Texas burn. In the meantime I'll settle for screwworms. Big ag, big oil, and big bigotry. The three pillars of Texas. No one deserves the fall more. Maybe after the decent people can take over but until then 🔥🔥🔥 www.texastribune.org/2025/10/14/s...

texastribune.orgUSDA slaps down Sid Miller over New World ScrewwormThe federal agency accused Miller of disregarding proven strategies to combat the parasitic pest “in favor of clickbait publicity stunts.”

In the past couple of decades the U.S. spent billions trying to figure out how to defeat an insurgency. Good to know they didn't learn anything. Just replace "COIN force" with "ICE" and "insurgents" with "immigrants" or "protestors."

I debated putting a check next to militias since so many are employed by ICE but I figured 11 out of 12 was bad(for them, good for us) enough. From the 2010 RAND study, "Victory Has a Thousand Fathers."

So the Dumper thinks we went soft on Vietnam. Just for perspective. The U.S. dropped around 2-2,500,000 tons of bombs on Germany and Japan, combined, in WWII. The U.S. dropped around 7.5-9,000,000 tons on Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Bizarro world.

And for the capitalists and bigots who can't stop whining about a declining population. The reason they are actually concerned is because of the advances that are causing it--empowering women, education, contraception, etc. They're against all those things. www.project-syndicate.org/onpoint/econ...

The same bigots and labor exploiters that kept the global South impoverished and destabilized for the last few centuries are now crying over the birth rates that were a natural result. Same demented logic we see in the U.S. with poverty-related crime.
