due to personal reasons I have decided to be evil now. Thank you for understanding

this is an interesting exchange but people are acting like the Economist guy won - by criticizing the rancid details of Trump's policy (mucho texto) while skating over the fundamental issue. if this is the best pro war folks have got...

To spare you all from Twitter, here’s @shashj.bsky.social’s great rebuttal.

I can't believe im sympathizing with the wormlike Vance but id be pissed too if some dipshit from the Economist tweeted a whole essay criticizing my policy but treated the fundamental point of distinction between it and Biden's as an afterthought, barely worth a mention.

If we agree there's no military victory, that makes the fact that negotiations JUST BEGAN morally important to reckon with. What was biden trying to do exactly? mr Economist skates over this with "i wouldn't criticize" phrasing. Ok, who gives a shit about ending the war then.

Damn I should have figured that the man who looks like a giant thumb would also be the most easy to spy on phone typist. He probably has to bang his head on the screen one letter at a time lol

REVEALED: we identified the operator of an overtly racist X account, "GlomarResponder," as ICE Assistant Chief Counsel James Rodden, based on an overwhelming number of biographical details matched through publicly available documents, other social media activity, and courtroom observation.

The cope line I see, for people who can't admit they were wrong, is “Biden didn't give 🇺🇦 the chance to win”. So unprecedented military & diplomatic support wasn't enough. If the gop had voted thru a few more appropriations, it would've solved the manpower problem via magic

here is Blinken claiming that he tried negotiating, but with no specifics on the offer it's safe to assume it was more of the same intransigence we've seen from the state dept since the 90s. bsky.app/profile/spec...

Really interesting assertion that SHOULD HAVE been followed up on. How did Blinken test that proposition? Is he saying he offered Putin "no 🇺🇦 into NATO"? That would be a bombshell. If not, how does another offer test the proposition exactly?

the particulars of the deal trump imposes will be awful no doubt, but in terms of the broad strokes im really struggling to imagine what the mainstream fp critics offer as an alternative. Supply enough guns that the conflict can be (best case scenario) frozen forever?

Obama foreign policy guy says USAID is good because we can't send US troops *everywhere*

"When the richest man in the world can so easily undermine our place on the global stage, it is, quite simply, a harbinger of decline: a sign of a corrupted superpower so brittle that its sources of influence can be taken apart from within." www.nytimes.com/2025/02/09/o...

This is the left wing of mainstream FP, folks: The American state *trying to dominate the entire world* may lead to a “mindset” of “hubris”, but the goal is fundamentally sound. Something Americans can take pride in! So send in the social engineers and political schemers along w the aid trucks.

Unlike you (I suspect), I have a BA degree in Egg Science from a top-50 ag university, and (I suspect unlike you), I’ve been following global egg supply issues for 38+ years, concentrating on the XL market segment. What are your credentials for understanding basic concepts?
