Spring Tools reposted
Spring tools leveled up: from Eclipse to VS Code to MCP, the Spring team is turning IDE intelligence into AI superpowers. Auto-complete, runtime insights, and agent-ready context across Eclipse, VS Code, Cursor, Neovim, Emacs, and more. How? https://www.podbean.com/ew/pb-qhvuw-1b60d3a
Bringing more Spring smartness to your coding agent doesn't stop with delivering specific diagnostics, it comes with the corresponding quick fixes for those observations as well - now as skills and explanation markdowns that tell the agent precisely how to improve the code and fix the issue π
Our extension for Claude Code can tell your agent what seems to be wrong with your project from a Spring perspective by deliverung diagnostics information directly to the agent - pretty nice to safe tokens and to enhance the agent with more Spring smartness ππ₯³
Our extension for Claude Code comes with a nice little skill that integrates Spring Initializr into Claude Code, making it super easy to create new Spring Boot projects right from within Claude Code... ππ
Out now: Spring Tools for Claude Code π₯³ππ In case you haven't seen this, we added Claude Code to the family of supported coding environments - bringing Spring related tools and skills to Claude Code. All early stages and experimental, but feel free to give it a try: github.com/spring-proje...

And the quick fix can not just convert individual references, but several in one go π₯³
Not using the new type-safe property references in Spring Data yet? We are here to help π. Introducing a new validation that flags string-based property references automatically - and provides a quick fix to switch to the new mechanism ππ₯³
If you would like to know more about type-safe property references in Spring Data, there is a great talk by Mark Paluch, the awesome brain behind this, from Spring IO 2026 about this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5eh...

The new support for Spring AI in the Spring Tools starts with indexing the Spring AI annotations and giving you a nice overview in the outline view as well as the symbols navigation ππ₯³ @spring-ai.bsky.social
The version validation got a new option: in addition to fetching GA version information from spring.io, you can switch to a repository-based resolution, so if you have a company-internal or commercial repository configued, you will see validations based on those versions directly in your IDE π₯³π
See the latest and greatest from Spring Tools in action, as @springtools.bsky.social lead @martinlippert.bsky.social gave a talk at JCON 2026 conference - and the recording is available now

This new validation is awesome, but we don't stop there. Here comes the corresponding quick fix that let's you configure API versioning (both ways, via a WebConfigurer or related Spring Boot properties) without writing everything yourself π₯³π
The newly introduced API versioning support in Spring Framework 7 is already nicely supported in the @springtools.bsky.social - for example by double checking for a proper configuration when using it π
We continued our work on this new bean completion and made it a lot faster... π And that is just the beginning, additional completion and quick fix speedups coming with the next release π
Auto completion for injecting bean dependencies coming to @springtools.bsky.social - just start typing the name of the bean you would like to use in a method body, and the auto completion will take care of adding a field + constructor injection for you π₯³
One of the fixes in the recent @springtools.bsky.social release that reduces cognitive load and clutter on the UI: having multiple component-defining annotations on the same class doesn't cause multiple bean symbols being created anymore - for a more precise, clean, and easy-to-use experience π
In preparation of "final" really meaning final in an upcoming Java version (see JEP 500), we added a validation that flags the use of final on autowired fields, which works today, but most likely not anymore in the near future - and is not really the recommended way to use autowired anyway π π
Spring Tools 5.1.2 patch release for @vscode.dev, @cursor.com.web.brid.gy, Theia IDE available now - for more details: github.com/spring-proje... (no updates to the Eclipse-based tools included)
Do you prefer nicely formatted text blocks for your query annotations when using Spring Data? @springtools.bsky.social has an option now to produce exactly those when turning repository AOT metadata into query annotations π
In case you haven't seen this in action yet: Spring Data JDBC query annotations now have SQL syntax highlighting and validation as-you-type - proudly brought to you by the @springtools.bsky.social ππ₯³
Another new validation arrived in the latest release of @springtools.bsky.social: now checking for missing configuration annotations on WebMvcConfigurer implementations - and the quick fix is included, too... π₯³
Defining and including your own stereotypes in the new Spring logical structure view has never been easier - with the latest release of @springtools.bsky.social, your catalog files are automatically merged with the defaults, for those not using jMolecules directly π₯³ππ
Support for functional web route definitions in @springtools.bsky.social now works for Spring WebMVC as well, understands static methods and builder pattern, visualizes the extracted routes in the symbols + logical structure view, and shows a nice code lens on the handler method ππ
Using some of the Spring Cloud components? @springtools.bsky.social now uses spring.io/projects/gen... to verify that your Spring Cloud and Spring Boot versions are compatible with eath other and if not, report mismatches right within your IDE π₯³
Java 26 support has landed at start.spring.io as well as @springtools.bsky.social for Eclipse. All you need to do is to install the Java 26 support from the Eclipse Marketplace - and you are ready to go: create a new Spring Boot project using Java 26 from the build-in wizard - and go! ππ₯³

Spring Framework 7 and Spring Boot4 use JSpecify as standard non-null/nullable annotations, so we now have them automatically configured in @vscode.dev as well as the Spring Tools for @eclipseide.org distribution π₯³
With the new logical structure view in @springtools.bsky.social, you can define your own custom stereotypes using annotations as well - and see the view update instantly on save π
The new logical structure view in the @springtools.bsky.social does not only group things in well-known pre-defined stereotypes. You can bring your own custom stereotypes and include them in the structure as well, for example by defining them in catalog files π
Already using Spring Modulith in your Spring Boot projects? The new logical structure view in @springtools.bsky.social supports it right out of the box π
Would like to get a unique overview of your Spring Boot projects from a Spring perspective? The completely new logical structure view in @springtools.bsky.social is here for you ππ₯³ It is definitely one of the most anticipated new features of the Spring Tools 5 generation. Enjoy! π
