Haven't been writing much for Karatera recently. Been putting together a custom TTRPG, so I've been focused on that. Still haven't heard back from the magazine, so I'm gonna contact them this week to find out what's going on. #amwriting

Okay, still haven't heard back from the magazine, but they explicitly say in the submissions to wait a couple of months before reaching out to double-check my submission status. So ... we're gonna be waiting a bit longer before we see "Makina", I'm afraid. #talesfromkaratera #amwriting

I also haven't had time to read "The Falcon and the Kite" to my writing group yet. Last few weeks have been pretty busy, as are the next few weeks I'm looking at. In the meantime, I'm working on the first draft of the 7th short story of Karatera: "The Siege of Angelos!" More updates as they come!

So, the quest to get "Makina" published in a fantasy magazine continues. I think I chose to do this at the worst time of the year, 'cause a lot of magazines seem to be closed. Still, I'm planning to persist for at least another week. After that, I'll just cut my losses. #amwriting #talesfromkaratera

Ideally, I don't want to wait *too* long before putting the story up on my blog, 'cause I want the stories to all be bundled together. There's also the issue that if I want to release my stories later in an physical or digital anthology, "Makina" would be technically considered a reprint.

I've only submitted to two magazines, neither of whom were interested. One of them thought the first part of "Makina" had too much exposition (which isn't inaccurate) and the other said it was over the word limit (which it was, I flat-out did not read the guidelines properly).

There's two other magazines I want to try and submit to before giving up, but there's a caveat. Literary magazines get first publication rights to successful submissions, and I don't know with these two how long I would have to wait before I can put the story on my blog (if I can at all).
