I'm making comics for the first time in a while and it feels so different. when I was living in LA i was so self conscious about my art... I gave up actively trying to chase animation and i think I also let go of a lot of resentment I didn't realize I was holding on to.

Not following my gut and making the art my heart wanted was what was probably holding me back in the first place lmao. I'm gonna chase this new feeling for right now. It feels really, really good.

After we moved, I had to take a long hard look at myself and my art and why I was making it. I'm reconnecting to comics again after trying to squeeze myself into a space I wasn't a great fit for and I'm drawing like I'm in college again. I'm in a "dead end job" but its Just A Job, I don't hate it.

I used to be so jealous and bitter, I kept getting sooo close and then things would fall through. Maybe one day I'll chase it again. but right now I'm taking a long rest, building up money while i have a decent stable job and putting energy into comics that really feel like they're Made By Me.

really really bummed out by this. my webcomic has been on webtoons for a few years now-I started it as a way to experiment with the format. Idk how comfy I will be using it from now on even if I am just one Indie story in their sea of others lmao

I read the first Dungeon Crawler Carl today!! It was a fun read, kinda schlocky but very easy to get into especially if you're already a webtoon/manhwa/light novel reader. Its a really fun western take on the genre its in, and gets a lot deeper than others I've read.

I've heard it described as "horror disguised as comedy" and I think that's pretty apt. I've also heard it leans more emotional and gripping the more it goes on so I'm really looking forward to that. It was a relatively digestible read but it was super fun which was what I really needed atm lol

Maybe digestible is the wrong word. Lemme put it this way- as someone who hasn't seriously read in a while, it was pretty unintimidating. Once it got going, it was really easy to drop back into it when I stopped to do other things. I'm excited for the tone to deepen as I read more of the series!

I think to some it can read as a bit gauche and "awkward millennial" sounding but once you get past that it says some really interesting things about being caught in a terrible situation. I think it does a good job making "modern horrors" and social media references without sounding too agonizing

I had my partner 3d print this for me when I was working on my storyboarding portfolio really seriously! We don't have a 3d printer rn but I've already asked him to make me a bunch more in all the page sizes I like to work in since I liked this one so much lmao

this is your ~sign~ to take like 5 minutes and make a little cardboard cutout template of your most commonly used page size spread that you can just trace when you have a lot of thumbnails to do!!!!

Its in PETG so its super sturdy and I've used it as a straightedge in a pinch. It's also kinda nice to use it as a viewfinder if im drawing from life out and about. For the next iterations i'm gonna ask to put a loop on the corners so I can put them on a keychain!
