Working to live wisely. I live where the arctic ends. Left of center. Cis woman. Fish enthusiast. Tall. Born in the 1960s. Change is annoying. Certainty is absurd.

I love that I live in a place where the following can be heard at a single party. "You should call the mayor about that" and "the soon-to-be governor fell asleep in my car" (said STBG was NOT drunk)

Vaccine ambush! In a successful sneaky operation at the grocery store today, I got the covid and flu shots without planning ahead. That way I dont worry about needles ahead of time. It doesn't ever hurt, but illogical anxiety is what it is.

Today a woman I don't know came into my home without knocking, walked down the hall and stared at me. I was sitting up in bed. Then she walked out and tried to enter each house down the street in turn. Cops were called, I really hope she gets the help she needs.

Transactional kindness isn't kindness. (That applies to god too.) My goal, and I often fall short, is to be kind, when appropriate, and without expecting anything back. This must be paired with the understanding that I don't control how other people, and the rest of the world respond tome (or don't)

What I am referring to with both statements is when people rope in others to beseech god. As in, the more people praying for something specific the more likely god will make a move. A god who responds at all to popularity contests isn't kind. Isn't good. Is no savior.

So... I built this platform for my frontload washer dryer. To bring it to code and to reach the (bottom) washer easier. First I built it strong, then reconsidered when I realized it will commonly be ๐Ÿซจ violently shaking. Made it stronger. Big door in front for access. I did good for an amateur. ๐Ÿ˜€

So stressed, wore my bite guard all day so as not to crack another tooth. ๐Ÿ˜•. Used the circular saw (perhaps not wise due to aforementioned stress), but did not lob off any body parts. Now I need to snuggle up with Chris Hemsworth. Is he available?๐Ÿ˜Œ

The guy at the postal store today told me he calls all men customers "boss" and all women customers "ladies." I pushed back. He said it wasn't sexist because his bosses are ladies.

Had to tell a good friend I won't invite her on a remote group (AK) trip unless we car camp together first. She hasn't camped in 20 years and has no gear of her own. If I'm going remote, we all need to be capable of leading if things go sideways. Plus I don't know if she snores. She was mad. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

"Everyone forgets, Icarus experienced flight. I believe Icarus did not fail, he just came to the end of his triumph." Oof. That hit me. From Roadrunner, the documentary about Anthony Bordain.

Nature shows REALLY need some women writers. "The winner of the elk battle claims his reward." Ew. The female animals in these shows don't have agency, nor do they apparently ever get horny. ๐Ÿ˜‘

My court case is not resolved yet (my house was damaged) but a big win in my favor yesterday by the judge. It's excellent progress towards making things right again.

Although eye-wateringly expensive, having electricians resolve issues/questions in my old home is so satisfying. I'm so very grateful for the time and skill of the team from Supreme Electric. And now my Christmas lights are powered up ๐Ÿ™‚

Passed a man in a parking lot today on my way into a store. Tall older white guy in cowboy hat and cowboy boots, shades, tight denims and zig zaggy western shirt. I had to struggle to stop myself from saying "hi, Tex." I just said "hi." He brought a smile to my face, tho. There's gotta be a story...
