1/ I don’t know how to say this without sounding harsh, but I need you to hear it. COVID — or SARS-2 — is not “just another cold.” It doesn’t leave you the same. Every reinfection stacks damage: brain, heart, immune system.

Had a splendid camping trip with no cell signal this past weekend then came back to the disaster that was unfolding back in the real world. I’ll hold on to the good moments for now. #oregon #camping #mthoodnationalforest

People continue to act like disabled & covid caution folks want to return to lockdowns. We don’t. We want clean air in public spaces. Paid time off. Better access to testing. Free respirators and mandatory masking in healthcare. Those steps would drastically reduce spread.

They told me parenting would be hard. They didn’t say I’d be managing airborne transmission, collapsed institutions, and mass delusion before my morning coffee. A 🧵 for the last parents standing:

Ideas on how to prepare yourself when health and science information provided by our government can no longer be counted on. Although I’ll add, many of us had already lost faith in the CDC when it came to COVID information. But now it will be across the board.

“Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared.” Diary of Anne Frank January 13, 1943

Replying to @walkerbragman.bsky.social

There have been a lot of people suggesting that maybe trans rights shouldn’t be such a priority for whatever opposition takes shape. These suggestions are shortsighted, utterly monstrous, and must be completely ignored. We don’t throw vulnerable people to the wolves hoping they’ll eat their fill.

I appreciate liberals suddenly caring about disinformation again, but those of us that've been tending this home fire for the past four years are gonna need y'all to recognize the covid disinformation you need to undo in your own mind if you want to stand in solidarity with disabled people.
