#Fallout76: we really need a Special Events Public Team, which incentivizes players to go to each other’s camps, eg for Trick or Treat.

#aiart prompt 1401: Extreme signal degradation, lost to quantized, pixelated noise end crushed palette. Thematic: autumnal/horror.

#aiart prompt 1047: Creeping insects upon the skin: a hand frantically examined. Low light; chromatic distortion; high contrast; low depth of field; shaky.

#aiart prompt 1400: An abandoned carnival, near a themed funhouse called “The Gates of Hell”; night; creepy fog; unnatural lighting; distressing; the opposite of fun or cozy. Soft focus; high contrast; jittery; glitchy.

#aiart prompt 1046: Closeup portrait of a vampire, snarling and bearing its fangs. Stark, high contrast, minimalist black and while. Traces of red on the teeth.

#aiart prompt 1399: Generate a random, slightly unnerving, skewed angle, slightly out of focus photographic landscape; overlay with a pithy, but wildly contextually inappropriate short phrase. The phrase should be glitched.

#aiart prompt 1045: A sepia toned photograph, old, worn and creased, of a person standing in a wild yard. The person appears faded and ephemeral: like they are being erased from the image.

Person A knows I don’t like being in social situations around a lot of people. They decide to throw a party and demand I attend. And get mad when I balk. Yet I’m the asshole.

Rust is an incredibly weird hodgepodge of clashing ideas and syntaxes; if I decide to start coding in it, I’m definitely going to run afoul of “semi-colons make an expression a statement”. Also, specifying return type with an arrow?

Me: imma avoid rust; it’s all hype, and a lowish-level language, and I don’t know what I’d even use it for. Also me after some reading: oh, it has pattern matching; neat!

So much of its syntax seems to be optimizing bizarre pain points while introducing novel, extra-dimensional bits of unnecessary pain or confusion. Maybe this will be clearer with a further examination of the language capabilities.

#aiart prompt 1398: Three ancient witches at the crossroads on the fog-laden moors. Dramatic; nightish; high contrast; cool-toned monochromatic; stippled; a hint of the fey and eldritch.

#aiart prompt 1044: From sconces and braziers of obsidian burned eldritch, fey flames of ghostly green; ebon columns rose from the darkly reflective floor to a ceiling lost in labyrinthine madness. The dread lady casually sat her throne, holding state.

I’m (slowly) working my way through the book; I’m not entirely suresure i like all of the language’s design decisions, but it doesn’t appear to be C-part-deux, which is as I had previously pigeonholed it.

Still not really sure what I’d even do with it, but I’m kinda looking to pick up a (modernish) language that isn’t web-frontend related. About the only other i was even remotely considering is Julia for its multi-dispatch functionality.

Dark mode should auto-tint bright images to prevent the eyes from being continuously flash-banged by screenshots made by folk who use their devices wrong.

#aiart prompt 1397: Shroud and protoplasm; shred and glow; obscured and translucent; ghastly and wight; lich and geist.

#aiart prompt 1043: The mummy, its rags weathered and tattered, shambled down the sandstone corridor after us, its arms stretched forward, grasping. Taken from a low Dutch angle; high contrast; low depth of field; dusty air; dramatic lighting; orange-toned overlay. Its eyes glow.

Ok: we finally have proper iPad support! Great! Except the font is incredibly tiny and my aging millennial eyes are really straining right now. The larger font setting does nothing.

I’ve independently encountered the term “noosphere” three times from different sources in the past 24-hours (two of which were from different sci-fi/horror books). wtaf.

It’s actually amazing that Bethesda has managed to make the already tedious and annoying Spooky Scorched EVEN FUCKING WORSE by the inclusion of the Pint Sized Slashers. FML.

#aiart prompt 1396: Sepulchral cloister, dark, candlelit; a sense of foreboding, of malice, of wrongness, of omnipresent, omnipotent Evil; a handmaiden of same, a veritable nun of this cloister, habit twisted and sinister, face obscured save her mouth.

#aiart prompt 1042: Bursting free from earthen mound it readies for skyward bound; though once covered in hard scale, all now left is bone most frail; though dragon’s wings rise for flight as skeletal provide fright. In its skull a glow espy emanating from its eye. #DragonTuesday

The real horror of (recently) is that a distressingly large chunk of the internet (and fuck knows how many intranets) are running functionality on php. Average bsky user: gets the vapors over llm usage to fix the issue.

At this point, we sincerely need something akin to the Golgafrincham Ark Fleet Ship B for a significant chunk of the Bluesky population. So. Much. Luddite. Feels.

Genuinely: in this transitory period where modest token usage with an llm can produce ridiculous results, keeping an app—even relatively old and large ones—written in php seems specious.

So, uh, between eMudhra creating bad, easily guessed keys and the latest php vulnerability: let not anyone assert that non-vibecoded things are free of bad exploits.

#aiart prompt 1395: The tiny dragon (roughly cat-sized) play/eating an unlit Jack o’lantern. Moody; contrasty; slight desaturation; soft focus.

#aiart prompt 1041: The walk was shrouded by curled over trees, boughs still yet heavy with dewy, autumnal splendor. The first drifts of color were starting to accumulate here or there beneath the trees. A faint mist began to form.

#aiart prompt 1040: The figure was visible through the four-centered arch, standing beyond a low, overgrown hedge; its face waxen; its attire unkempt. It exuded quiet menace, as it stared towards us.

For every social interaction an extrovert forces an introvert into, the extrovert should be required to spend an equal amount of time in a sensory deprivation tank.

I just rewatched—for the first time, I think, since it originally came out—The Return of the King. I feel like there’s a direct line from Dead Alive’s whatthefuckery to Jackson’s interpretation of the Mouth of Sauron which is pretty obvious in hindsight.

#aiart prompt 1393: Jack o’lantern anglerfish, hiding in the dark, luring the unsuspecting. Grimdark; fey; unsettling; high contrast; low depth of field, focused on the fish’s Jack o’lantern shaped bioluminescent bulb.
