We need Democrats in Congress to grasp this moment. Trump’s thugs are shooting, abusing and killing people in our streets with impunity β€” and we need leaders to stop this lawlessness now. Wake up: This five-alarm fire will get worse without loud and focused opposition.

I found this to be a timely quote, certainly applicable in this era: "When any real progress is made, we unlearn and learn anew what we thought we knew before." Henry David Thoreau

I think I have coined a new term. It is not patriarchy or matriarchy, but hatriarchy (hate-riarchy) And, apparently it is new as AI keeps wanting to change it to the others. Please start using it so Webster will add it to the lexicon. And, thank you!

I continue to read "The Reckoning". New term: "Sophiacide" - the killing of knowledge. A movement by southern whites to prevent black freed people to become educated. Kind of happening now, only with everyone, yes?

Brene Brown (paraphrased) cont...disengagement is result of leaders who are not living by the rules they preach. And in an uncertain world the people they lead are desperate for absolutes. She wrote this book in 2012; not sure if she was prescient but sure does sound like it.

Epiphany. Re-reading "Daring Greatly" by Brene Brown. Among other insights, criticism (especially anonymous, as in social websites) comes from people trying to deflect shame from themselves. Their comments are a reflection of their own deep feelings of vulnerability. They deserve pity.

I am with someone at an event, talking about the protest that unfortunately, we are missing. I said: "I hope we just keep on protesting" and she said "We need a protest culture, not protest events." Solid statement.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it: bake a favorite flavor pie for each parent. You have 8 hours. You may access the internet for advice but for the most part must use a recipe, your knowledge, and experience. There are no do-overs or gimmies. GO!

Still reading "Weapons of Math Destruction". Credit scores used as a proxy for employment, as a sign of trustworthiness, dependability. I wonder what the buffoon's scores are?

Question: I was at grocery store. Cashier was very polite ("please, thank you, find everything okay?") and EVERY TIME someone said "thank you" to her she said "of course!", same intonation pattern, same, same, same. I have thoughts but not sure what to make of it. Is this a thing?

I am an nyc grade 4 teacher and I am having a read -a-thon to get my students to read after spring break next week. This will get students in the groove of reading in preparation for their upcoming state exams. Please repost. Bless you. They are my true superheroes. www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/...

To those interested. Very easy. 2-3 lemons, juice of 3, zest of 1. Pasta, 1/2 white wine, 4 cloves garlic, parsley, crushed red pepper, breadcrumbs - toasted in olive oil, the zest, minced garlic, lemon juice. 1/2 C fresh grated Parmesan cheese. I also sliced up some green olives.

FYI: COVID is still out there. No news. But, Trump cancelled all COVID funding. That means meds for treatment are not covered. How do I know? My 89 y/o mom has it. $1500 for Paxlovid. Be careful.

This will NOT win any awards for appearance but I can guarantee it will taste delicious! Lemon cake with limoncello, mascarpone and blueberries. I can't wait to cut into it and then deny myself a second piece!!!

Stumbled across a new word - "lumpenproletariat" - def: lower order of society not interested in revolutionary advancement. πŸ€” Now, who does that remind me of? 🀭🫒🀫

1. Reading about the "southern strategy", used by Nixon to get the votes of the southern states. Blame everything on black people, devise a system that recognizes this without appearing to. Hence laws about loitering, possession, homelessness...Lee Atwater said don't use the "n-" word, instead...

2. ..talk about forced busing, states rights all that stuff and you're getting to abstract. "Now you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things are economic things, and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites..." sound familiar? Add immigrants to the hurt pile.

Question for the financial and legally savvy: someone asks you to hold 30k for them in your personal bank account, they will "pay" you a percentage for doing it while they are out of the country. I know it is a scam, but what kind and how are they making $?
