There is nothing threatening about people coming together to help Palestinian farmers pick their olives. But even this peaceful act of solidarity is met with detention by Israeli authorities. They want Palestinian communities isolated and those who stand with them intimidated.

Happening now: Barbara Gaffin, a Friend of Standing Together from Boston, was detained by Israeli police after joining around 80 other activists near Nahalin, west of Bethlehem, to provide a peaceful protective presence for Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest.

The volunteers arrived early Wednesday and harvested for about two hours before Israeli forces arrived and declared the area a closed military zone for 24 hours. Although the volunteers agreed to leave, soldiers detained everyone present and photographed their identity cards and passports.

“Convicted supporters of terror cannot be allowed at our universities,” the students said, adding, “The party of a terror supporter and the police minister on whose watch 185 Palestinian citizens have been killed just this year cannot be given a platform.”

We will not accept a government that fuels occupation, expulsion and settlement while abandoning Palestinian citizens of Israel to organized crime and violence. Our student activists are organizing together to demand a future in which their classmates, families and communities can live in safety.

We made it clear that a man convicted of incitement to terrorism is not welcome on campus and we cannot be silent while his messianic, extremist policies directly lead to death and destruction for Palestinians and put all of us at risk.

More than 100 of us Jewish and Palestinian activists, were in the village of Al-Maniya in the West Bank, standing in solidarity with the Palestinian community and helping harvest olives. The village has faced violent attacks from settlers nearby.

Millions of Palestinians living under occupation in the West Bank are not citizens of any state, and they cannot vote to influence the policies that touch every part of their lives. They are increasingly being terrorized and killed by settlers who are backed by the state and the army.

Our Purple House in Nazareth was full of energy last week. Palestinian and Jewish activists, organizers and community leaders came together through our get-out-the-vote campaign to prepare for the crucial days ahead.

We are fighting for a future in which Palestinian citizens are heard, represented and treated as equal partners, and for a society where Palestinians and Jews can live with dignity, security and genuine equality.

This week we were in the Palestinian village of Nabi Salih in the occupied West Bank for a solidarity visit after the village was attacked by settlers from a settlement overlooking the village. Read through for what happened:

They also emptied an entire pantry, scattering flour, grains, and food across the floor and broke equipment. The community watched it happen from an observation point across the road. We went to hear from the community itself and to stand in solidarity with it.

This reality, which is supported by the government and the army, is unbearable, and it’ll continue until we end the occupation. Every single one of us in our society must join the fight because this is completely horrific for Palestinians in the West Bank and it will never make any of us safer.

A few days ago, three settlers tried to steal Palestinians' sheep but were stopped by men from the village – so the settlers called the army, claiming the men had beaten them. There’s no evidence that that ever happened, but the army took some men for an interrogation.

They were released after eight hours without any interrogation but the settlers were able to steal 50 sheep. Locals left the village for fear of more attacks, and a few days later, when no one was there, more settlers arrived and stole clothes, money, and one of the children’s schoolbags.

We’re in the final countdown to Israel’s elections, and we’re reaching thousands of Palestinian citizens to urge them to VOTE! We’ve already met 20,000 people on the streets. Now, we’re working to reach even more and make sure their voices are heard.

We’ve set up hubs in six locations across the country, from Nazareth to Tayibe to Majd al-Krum, where Jewish and Palestinian activists work side by side. This is a shared fight for our future on this land, because the change we want to build is only possible together.

We desperately need a different reality. From the destruction in Gaza to settler terror in the West Bank, organized crime in Palestinian society in Israel, and a gov’t that targets activists and voices of dissent, things are getting worse every day. We can’t continue like this.

Politicians are determined to entrench their own power at the expense of everyone who lives here. And we’re fighting to change that by helping Palestinian citizens make their voices heard at the polls.

We’re phone banking, talking to people on the ground, putting up billboards, and organizing community events to get out the vote. Everyone who lives here deserves a say in shaping our shared reality.

We’re organizing ordinary people, Jews and Palestinians, to resist deepening occupation in the West Bank, forever war in Gaza, silencing of Palestinian citizens of Israel, and incitement and violence against voices in our society calling for peace.
