I voted for this bill because it was better than nothing but honestly, only a smidge. Smartphones don’t belong in classrooms, and we shouldn’t be afraid to say so.

It's been a big day for milling -- the legislature's second favorite thing after passing laws. But now we're taking up HB 6231, which is an early sunsetting of tax exemptions for data centers. This bill is very necessary to implement the budget, so it has to be done before the budget passes #waleg

Proving that anything can happen on Sine Die - we were just about to pass the Capital Budget and someone in the legislative building pulled the fire alarm. You can't make this stuff up. #waleg

Data Center bill has passed. Now we're working on passing the Operating budget. Passing the budgets is the only thing the legislature *must* do every year, according to the state constitution. Ready to cast my vote! #waleg

We’re doing concurrences on a bill about cannabis cooperatives, and Republican speaker says she doesn’t believe cannabis growth is agricultural production, but instead thinks it is drug production and that it’s offensive to call it agriculture because farmers don’t grow poison. Sine die! #waleg

Good evening.... it's Night Floor! It's 11:25 AM, we're doing a @noelframe.bsky.social bill about the warehousing of prescription drugs, SB 6228. This bill is important for the operating budget having to do with loopholes for drug warehousing. #waleg

Energy authority bill passes! Now we're on to SB 6354, which allows electric vehicle manufacturers like Rivian and Lucid to sell vehicles directly to consumers, a privilege that currently only Tesla enjoys (it's a long story). #waleg

Anyway back to electrical transmission. For a longtime we've partnered with the Bonneville Power Administration to ensure we are producing and moving electricity to where it's needed. But the BPA has been cut a ton by the Trump administration. So this new authority will help. #waleg

Many other states have transmission authorities and they help the state partner with all the players in the super complicated electrical generation and transmission world. Rep Ramel explains this will reduce costs, and expand access to energy #waleg

The bill passes! We're moving pretty quick because people see the chance to go to bed over the hill. We're passing SB 6355 which is actually kind of a big deal. It creates a publicly owned electrical transmission authority to help the state expand its electric transmission capacity #waleg

Estate tax rollback passes. We're on SB 6182 which levies a tax on health carriers that provide coverage through health benefit exchanges to provide grants to support patient access to abortions. It prohibits this from being passed to individuals #waleg

There's a Shaun Scott amendment that says that the estate tax break shouldn't start until we start collecting the millionaire's tax. #waleg

I voted to support the amendment but it didn't hang. Democrats arguing it's not good for us to be such an outlier with estate tax rates. #waleg

I think it's safe to say that everyone on this floor is tired. We were all doing pretty well until about 9, but the wear and tear of yesterday's 25 straight hours of debate is hitting now. We all got good sleep last night, but not enough to make up for the night we lost. The work goes on #waleg

Next up we're doing SB 6347, which addresses the estate tax. We significantly increased this last year, making us the highest in the nation, which isn't great cause we end up collecting nothing if well to do people move out of state before they die. This brings us back to the previous rate. #waleg
