As Desmond says, it's not just about bike lanes.
Doug Ford’s war on bike lanes isn’t about traffic—it’s part of a global right-wing backlash to vilify urban residents and defend fossil fuel interests. @breachmedia.ca dove into the politics of cycling, and debunked some myths along the way www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoCz...
The height on my driver’s license isn’t even accurate! I lost a cm when I switched from an American license to a Canadian one because the US doesn’t do half inches. 😂
A friend of mine is a Kansas state representative & was adamantly opposed. The AG argued that sex on licenses needed to align w/ birth certificates for “accuracy” To highlight the absurdity of this argument, my friend proposed an amendment that would require weight on licenses to be accurate 1/
Found in a YouTube comments section: “I have had multiple conversations with friends about how we would rather have a vet than a doctor because we'd a) be given cheese, b) told that we're a beautiful fluffball, and c) be told how good we were for not biting anyone” 😂🧀 @vetmedcorner.bsky.social
Cue: Governments around the world frantically changing their public health guidelines to remove references to the CDC.
About the combined MMR and varicella vaccine (MMRV), ACIP has just voted to *not* recommend MMRV before the age of 4 years. This will not change access to MMR and varicella separately.

Yes. Think of the disability costs if they acknowledged that Covid is in schools. Instead they put school staff in crowded classrooms without PPE and then when we get sick deny the existence of Long Covid. Teachers are second only to healthcare workers when it comes to Long Covid in Canada.
The same thing goes for environmental stories. If plastics recycling is so easy, why do we make such a big deal when someone actually finds a way to recycle it? For something to be an interesting news story, it has to be rare.
This goes for a lot of things, really. Crime (remember the big shoplifting craze), poisoned Halloween candy, immigration, you name it. The single best piece of advice for media literacy is: when you see a story ask yourself, how much of this is actually happening?
Sometimes you don’t even need to correspond with the author. Their email address says it all.
A classic hallmark of pseudoscience is when proponents reverse the burden of proof on skeptics to prove them wrong rather than having to provide evidence to support their own claims. Hitchens’s razor: What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.
I love getting to watch her problem-solve! ❤️ @vetmedcorner.bsky.social

Excellent paper on the elevated risks of motor vehicle accidents as a result of cognitive dysfunction due to Covid-19. This, of course, applies to other skilled activities that require a fast Observe-Orient-Decide-Act (OODA) loop. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

@jonathanstea.bsky.social An interesting tidbit of pseudoscience that I’ve come across is Irlen Syndrome. It describes a real phenomenon (some people read more easily on tinted/coloured backgrounds), but the “theory” behind it is just nonsense.
