Personal reading challenge: My paperback library includes 57 Norton Critical editions and 31 Penguin Classics. My goal is to read them all starting with the Penguin edition of Thomas More's "Utopia." Then I can move on to my Library of America hardback collection--at least two dozen.

Using a Google Alert on Neural Implants, I clicked on a link to a TED presentation on precisely positioning wireless sub-cellular devices in the brain to manipulate cellular communication as a process of targeting and potentially eliminating disease. Keep on learning.

Through JSTOR, I discovered the notion that Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s "Aurora Leigh can be read as a palinode to Paradise Lost. The poem's measured plea on behalf of women mirrors the poem's relationship with Paradise Lost.” Studies in English Literature, 1500-1900, Autumn, 1997

Pamela Knights: Edith "Wharton explores orbits above the milieu of . . . Howell's middle classes, inaccessible to . . . Dreiser's showgirl, Carrie, and unthinkable in the streets of . . . Crane's Maggie."

Currently reading the Cambridge Companion to American Novelists. First essay is on Cooper, followed by pieces on Hawthorne, Melville, and Stowe. Number five is on Twain. I'm getting new and renewed perspectives from my (long ago) graduate student days.

You are up to date.
