Wore my @lambrinigirls.bsky.social shirt to my town's first ever music fest: The Great Get Together, all bluegrass bands and local artisans. A stranger said "awesome shirt." Somewhere in my little Illinois town there is another person who knows about British queer feminist punk. Pleasant surprise!

Wrapped up my interview and made it into the city for day one of Riot Fest! Stoked for Panic Shack at 12:30 and Pixies later on!!

Here we go!!! Home from work and heading out with @matty.wtf to see Liz Phair and Sleater Kinney, then all weekend at Riot Fest! Plus, we saw Bikini Kill on Monday. Busy week of awesome shows!!

Found a canister for my protein powder that actually fits my house. I love shopping for everyday stuff when all the spooky/stuff is out. It’s way easier to find skulls, bats, and ravens!

Boss is upset that he can’t add an appointment to the schedule of someone who is out of office that day. I really can’t sometimes.

My boss was complaining that her phone hasn’t been working right. I took a look at it at her request. She had 590 browser tabs open, among other issues. I just really can’t sometimes.

Cleaning the house and decided to take a break. This is how I chose to sit down. Cool cool, this is definitely why my hips hate me and not a medical mystery at all. 🤷🏻‍♀️

4 years smoke-free today. 20+ years of smoking cigarettes before that. Still weird that my hands don’t know what to do sometimes but here we are.

Truly bad day at work. Then @matty.wtf shows up at my house unexpectedly with a bunch of my favorite candy. I adore this guy.

@matty.wtf is out of town for work and I miss him enormously. That is all.

I would say exactly the same about the fabulous @matty.wtf. Here’s to the first of many more amazing years. In this chaotic, messed up, frustrating world it’s so lovely to have this kind of happiness together.

Currently at the gas station listening to someone’s Jesus hip-hop because apparently we all made that choice together. One lyric was, “My bible is a weapon, every page is a sword.” Bold strategy. I just hope nobody gets a paper cut.

Nothing like proudly hurrying onto the dance floor for the anniversary dance at my nephew’s wedding knowing our own first anniversary isn’t until later this month, so we’re basically guaranteed to be the first ones sent packing. 😂 We went anyway.

Finally got a haircut and some fresh blue! Cut off several inches!

Today’s work call: a man furious we wouldn’t dispatch a tech to his house. Turns out he didn’t know his own address, his wife “handles that kind of stuff.” Buddy if you don’t know where you live, that’s not on us.

My daughter is home from college, so we hit the local record shop and walked the downtown car show this evening. Records, classic cars, and a little mother-daughter wandering makes for a pretty perfect little downtown evening.

@matty.wtf and I are back to lifting the heavy circles. Had to dial the weight back while we got our form back in check. Turns out I can still squat 75 lbs, which honestly feels pretty good for someone who took some time off and is decidedly 47 years old. And yes, my setup comes with skeletons.

Another day in the office. At least it’s Thursday and we’re seeing Panic Shack tonight. I’m a sucker for an all-girl punk band.

Every once in a while I throw on Pete Yorn’s “music forthemorningafter” and remember what a great album it is!

Been quiet on here lately. Life is busy and more stressful than I would like, but we are pushing through. Loving the Roost app though, it’s fun sending slow-cial media messages via bird. I’ve given all my birds music-themed names, like a cardinal called Pretty Fly for a Red Guy.

Life has been busy and a lot lately, but it’s Caturday, so here’s Charlie reminding us that rest is also an agenda.

A manager who doesn’t know how to use AI used it to research what his employee should be paid. The AI told him to fire the employee for not completing a project. He then used the same AI comp data to justify a $1.50 raise. The project stalled because his own son killed it. This is not hypothetical

I can’t watch tv because my daughter (who is just home from college) is blasting Noah Kahan and singing at the top of her lungs from the shower. It’s both annoying and awesome. Life is rarely one thing.

We’re gonna need a nap come end of September!

New blue and a cut

Got a hot drink at Peet’s Coffee today and it came with one of those little stoppers. Back when the kids were little, I used to ask for an extra so they could sword fight with them in the backseat. Funny the things that stick.
